Thanks for info. Looks fab. I might do the same with my 00works when they arrive. Not sure I could watch all grey model steam locos despite prototypical accuracy. Might try a bit of weathering first which might great more visual depth.

Lightly weathered a MM mk2 ST coach for a friend. The prototype Supertrain livery never really floated my boat, but after a bit of weathering I'm beginning to change my mind. These after all are closer in time to my favourite B&T era than the later more attractive tippex livery, and overlapped operations with B&T livery stock for much of the 1970s. Used a mix of airbrushing and weathering powders applied wet using paint brush and cotton buds (water+decalfix). The roof now looks less like an air marshals day-glo bat.

Looks just a mix up in body centres from two locos, an IE and IR. Could easily happen when fitting decoders and the IR and IE bodies got mixed up between two locos when being put back on.

Thanks Patrick. It was just the new photos on the IRM web site that caused a degree of confusion. So two high band B&Ts and one low band B&T.

PS2: . . . sorry, AND the photo on A23r web page depicts a photo of A42r with the wide orange band!

Glad I ordered an 017 then. Livery is outside my era but I felt I should have one as due homage to the more modern livery. PS: FYI, the loco photo on your website page for A39r actually depicts A23r with the lower stepped band livery. Will A39r be sold in its current restoration livery with the wide band, or as depicted on the A39r web page with the narrower stepped band?

I got that very train set in 1971. Brings back happy memories. The novelty value of the overhead lines, working pantograph and coach lighting was enough to make a small boy feint.
