Agree on J15 being unlikely short term WT is very possible S class Have a good chance, but I always put them behind the.. ..V class, which stand a pretty good chance. Lack of GNRI coaches hurts them a bit, but Merlin is active RPSI Can't discount the 800s when IRM have the three Hunslets. And you can haul PRs behind them. Q class and T2s especially would be wonderful, love the T2s, but alas my top three in terms of most likely candidates, in no particular order are.. V class, 800 class, WTs Steam wildcards are a J26 or Sambo since you mentioned tanks. On the off chance its a diesel, C class.

CAF Cheap as fuck, and indeed they were. Half will stay at Connolly, half will be sent down to Cork, AFAIK. IR are asking a lot from the 201s and DDs at their age with the increased service. Don't expect the new stock to come in till 2030, more likely 33. DDs and Locos will be approaching 40 by then! Increased service = more trains on the same tracks as Darts = more delays. Longterm solutions in terms of infrastructure will need to be quad track out to Drogheda, and sorting out the bottleneck at Connolly. Keep fingers crossed new rolling stock is reliable.

Both are scheduled slots for DDs AFAIK, but if one fails, the alternative will be something else, barring the occasional amalgamation of a service.

I commissioned it from @Killian Keane of Small Loco Works, who designs and prints 3d models to an excellent standard. I'd be very interested in seeing the 7 1/4 gauge 800!

I suppose theres an aspect of humour in calling a locomotive Faugh a Ballagh, clear the road indeed... The MGWR were clearly forward thinking calling one of their locos Erin go Bragh! Built a year before the Rising too.

And with the hourly service are being asked to do much more in their old age. Don't really know what people expect, if a DD or 6-car ICR goes down, there's only so much regulators and inspectors can do to juggle around and figure out what they can make up the train with. If you've bought first class you should be refunded for the difference. Regarding seating, sometimes the reservation system doesn't work (usually some kind of technical issue when they change ends) but otherwise, if you've booked a seat and somebody is sitting in it, you can tell them its your seat. If they are the very occasional prick who doesn't care and wants to hog, the CSO will tell them what's what. People are not telepathic. I cannot speak to what its like in England.

Galway too, though it fans out rapidly with the mpd on one side and the good yard on the other. Broadstone, minus the large depot, could be a good basis. -
David this is absolutely fabulous. Phoenix coming out between the buildings is a wonderful shot on a brilliant layout.

Interestingly it seems negotiations for a larger merger with the LNWR, MGWR and GNR (along with, apparently, the DSER) was at least in part scuttled by objections of the DSER over the loans it had been given by the LNWR that you've mentioned. Merging, according to Shepherd, would have meant repayment of this loan which the DSER was unwilling to do! When I am home I will take a photo of the paragraph I'm referring to for further clarification. The point regarding the baronial lines is an interesting one indeed, gives a lot of space for various alternate history scenarios. One wonders whether the likes of the Achill or Clifden lines could have survived longer in such a scenario. If so, I'd imagine passenger services would end up powered by 'Railcar B' clones.
