  1. I was under the impression that they were only painted blue for a while and spent most of their life in brown. happy to be wrong though, now having them on my layout actually fits the era.
  2. Ive also seen in more than one video of the short 2-3 wagon liner trains that the thing is hauled by a single 121 in ir livery which would have had to have been turned around for the return leg of its journey.
  3. VID-20230508-WA0001.mp4 some fun tonight as we get to see 007 passing through the yard with the empty taras whilst the guinness liner awaits offscene for the road in. turns out operating 2 throttles with one hand and a camera with the other can be quite tricky so the vid is a bit sloppy, the notch points on 133 are also nonstandard and and i forgot to reset them, however,
  4. if ya took off all the text and signs the biggest obvious difference is those big shoulders at the front and back of the container, I think the irish ones were taller too, the chassis covers up a lot of the visible portions of the wheelsets on these. they are a HUGE upgrade from the chopped up hornby carriage flats i had made up before this, they also had come in slightly too long, they have kinematic coupling and all that other nice modern stuff. and they are rather heavy. considering converting the containers into coal load containers so i can do an asahi liner.
  5. The PFA are a brilliant alternative if you want 20 foot flats but dont want to be putting kits together they have a fully modernised chassis too.
  6. Sure i can just play with your trains then,
  7. bit pendantic but would you label them as a warranty related part or would they be more of a cosmetic part? surely if paddy heard there was demand for spares to go onto the older models it wouldnt be too hard for him to order x amount extra of handrails and wipers whilst the factory is still in production. Agreed but it doesnt bother me all that much unless I have the model in the same scene as a newer one, its noticable then but i still wouldnt care too much. when they are missing altogether it does look odd though.
  8. if all that shit comes out within the next 9 months im going to be very very very poor
  9. tbh I need wipers and handrails for a 141 so I hope he sees demand for them as a standalone product. I reckon alot of these locos lost these exact parts over the years and they are the most fragile parts of almost any model.
  10. sure well see a few more updated diesel releases within that time frame too
  11. true enough but id end up doing both ends of the loco at that rate lol
  12. I thought this only literally a year ago regarding 141 classes and that has all changed now, I think we will see another run at some point for sure.
  13. Ive a feeling the new batch are gonna have updated wipers and handrails to bring it up to 121 spec,
  14. the worst part is that its WARM at the moment
  15. Dellner update: So I added this crossover during the week to add some interest to the through road on the layout ( so now theres an up and down road to and from the tramway) and predictably started to have buffer lock, The tara's go through fine but neither my flats or MM locos would so i had to have another look at spacing them out, after pulling them out of the nem sockets a little bit and affixing them in place with a small dab of PVA as per bachmann's recommendation on fitting detail parts for later removal, ALL of my flats and 192 are going through these points without a hiccup. Overall I am really impressed by these couplings and will continue to convert compatible stock. Final update for now, As these taras are a bit shorter than the flats I was happy to see I could fit an additional one into the cassette so i decided to pick up another box of them to complete the "rake" which breaks up the monotony of the 2 wagon trains of flats that will typically be being shunted about. Also picked up the coastal tours bus as having a Dublin based layout finally necessitates the need for a nice DB model, I was able to look up the old routes for the southern coastal tour and it would have passed within a street or two of the yard so to me that was enough to select one for this layout. Thats it for new rolling stock for this layout, and my list of jobs to complete is getting smaller and smaller, so hopefully by the next update ill have a controller plugged in and trains can be moving under their own power
  16. coming back from musings earlier in the week i was hit with a eureka moment and headed out for some mounting card and this test structure is the result. The wagon shed was always going to be a low relief affair and i had not originally even intended for the shed to be tracked but it did need to be a bit bigger as the whole idea of having it at all within the constraints of this build is that the shed is a view blocker for the far side exit, I also wanted to build on the half wagon/mirror idea so i got the bright idea of putting it all within a single rendition of the wagon shed. I think i am going to leave it like this with three walls and focus on developing a detailed interior to compliment the idea. This leads to the illusion that the structure is double the size that it actually is, and that there is an additonal piece of rolling stock inside. A pair of mags await decommissioning I really cant justify building another rake right now but i did want to get my hands on the last mag while they are still around, im sure one or two of them ended up in N.Wall before their eventual demise and this limited piece is definitely a nice little show piece to have around.
  17. Lets go halfs ill move into the nicest cab whilst we strip out the engine room and turn it into my casa L'tenerife, the spares will keep the others alive.
  18. https://webapps.geohive.ie/mapviewer/index.html if you havent seen this already, all the old satellite imagery and OS maps can be overlaid onto this map. might help fill in the gaps.
  19. just found this oldish site last night and was blown away to see such a large library of card kits available for free. big selection of different types of items. http://www.wordsworthmodelrailway.co.uk/ WIll be testing some of these in the coming days.

    MM143 supertrain

MM 142 in supertrain, bought as new off adverts, ran in and put back on the shelf for a while so its still spotless, with sealed accessory pack. "Not really my era" so im looking to swap for something that is, more specifically i'm after an IR A class in a similar sort of condition. the later the livery the better. can be DC or DCC depending on your needs, collection/delivery/postage can be discussed after a deal is struck.
  21. SO WHEN ARE THE NEW DUTCH VANS COMING OUT?!?!
  22. Mmmmmm. Workable on second radius but not flawless with the 181 fixed nem pocket. 181 good with wagons tho edit: 181 now showing buffer lock with wagons so coupling not 100% compatible without spacing it out a little bit, not gonna mess around with it too much for now as i also have other locos that should work better here.
