I generally object to the constant, unnecessary and inappropriate use of the word 'stunning'.
This layout, however, does merit such a description.
And more!
This is interesting - http://planefinder.net/ - if you're ever wondering what's flying over your house.
I had to pick two Americans up from Manchester a few weeks back - I watched them on here and set out as they flew over Holyhead - arrived five minutes after they emerged from the terminal..
I genuinely have one in the car + one in the portable kit and one in the house kit.
It will cope with anything that you might survive.
If I ever use one, then I'll take a picture for you...
Might be this sort of thing.
The French instructions on the other side describe it as a 'tampon' (i.e., pad). But, I can't find a picture of that side.
Useful thing to keep in the car and with the chainsaw...
There's a 13 to 14% scale difference, depending upon which way you're looking. It can depend upon what sort of thing you're looking at - the Cararama Volvo earthmovers are 1/87 and yet still look 'right' on an 00 layout..
Nice to have a chat about this and see the current model in the flesh at Abbeyleix. It really is a fine job and I could even be tempted myself one day..
This little device was running on Castlefinn last Sunday at Abbeyleix. Straight out of the box and with a Kato chassis clicked into place. The finish was truly excellent - I thought that it would be a year or two before it got this good..
The venue is an excellently renovated old schoolhouse.
With a a superb landscape model of the town on the wall.
And sympathetically concealed security cameras...?
Other layouts.
Indeed it was an excellent show.
Castlefinn was the one for me.
The Monastery Line was entertaining.
Not often that you see three-rail at an exhibitition.
The club layout was impressive, too.
The cordless soldering iron that Lidl also do is also rather better than you might imagine - around €9, I think - http://irishrailwaymodeller.com/showthread.php/543-Non-standard-bits-in-your-tool-box?p=20006&viewfull=1#post20006 - I've put three decent rechargeable AAs in mine and used it many times. I've subsequently adapted my additional patented wire security clip to hold the couple of feet of solder that I've wrapped round a nail - I spent far too much time looking for that..!
Perfectly good for the odd little job.
