    Crewe 2012.

Phew! I'll do that once too often....
  2. I find this list on Wikipedia- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bibliography_of_Irish_rail_transport - whilst looking for info on http://www.amazon.ca/By-Rail-Through-Heart-Ireland/dp/0853429480 which I picked up on the way back home today. A pleasant little book about the route, rather than the railway itself, but with a few interesting pictures..

    Crewe 2012.

Well, Crewe was a good little do - plenty to interest anybody.. Good to met Rob (and Liz) - only the second person on here that I've ever seen in real life. I was impressed at how competently supervised he was....

    Crewe 2012.

Myself and Robert Davies are aiming for this one tomorrow - http://www.alsagerrailwayassociation.co.uk/exhibition2012.htm - anybody else about..?
  7. With all-metal wheels you can get away with a bit of sliding, but having traction tyres, on one side!, made life very difficult. Personally, I hate rubber on the rail, and finally persuaded him to put four all-metal wheels on one of the power bogies - it's been OK since then. I tried it with all eight powered wheels un-tyred, but we have a 1/35 slope whilst the end of the train is still on a bend and it wouldn't have it - maybe with more adhesion weight we could have improved things, but he's happy as it is now...
  8. I 'double-ended' a Pendelino for a friend and we had to remove the traction tyres from one power bogie to avoid constant de-railing.
  9. Mmm, I can see the whole pictures, no trouble at all. But embedded videos no longer run on here for me, I have to copy them to the outside world - mind you, that is happening on my other forum, too...
  10. Just asking? Never know what you might get up to when I'm not supervising..
  11. Is that meant to say "particular request" or "peculiar request" ..? I think we should be told.
  12. I found a picture of a train arriving at Birmingham International for last year's show..
  13. I'll do my best - it sounds like it might be an ordeal. I've put it off for years, but I just can't pass up a free ticket. Not sure whether to drive or take the train..
  14. Cheers for that, I'll see if we can aim for Sunday..
  15. Will do. Is that 'restaurant' - or 'bar'...? Not sure which day to aim for yet..
  16. Anybody going? I hear that O'Connell Street will be there...
  17. Don't try this at home..
  18. A jet train would need suitable coaches, of course.
  19. There's slides and there's 'cover slips', which are very thin.
  20. A key principle to remember is to ensure that the engines are pointing the right way...
  21. There's a hint of Lartigue about this one...
  22. Them jets are too noisy..
  23. There seems to have been a recent Irish Railway Art Exhibition in Enniskillen. There are a few pictures here - http://www.flickr.com/photos/75395133@N00/7957760870/in/photostream/
