RMW certainly isn't an example to quote for good picture storage! There was a massive data crash a couple of years back and over a years' worth of missing images.

I thought they’d gotten their shit together since then with proper backups etc?

It was supposed to be backed up before - they were let down by their third-party storage provider, it wasn't the fault of those running the forum.

It's still pretty common for RMweb posts to randomly disappear!

Can you share some example links? The only time there should be a link is if the linked image is gone

Try my SSM GSR 800 thread - even the first post is peppered with "broken" image icons....

...these are all photos uploaded to the Forum or Forum albums directly. I don't use third party hosts.

Yup, it’s not linked images, it’s proprietary forum images. I have a feeling that the missing images may be from a certain time period, rather than over many years. I wonder if the original format of the image files is a factor. I’m sure I’ve seen your images, @leslie10646‘s and @Arran’s all become “broken”.

Not just me, so. I've only ever used .jpg or .jpeg format files for uploading to the Forum, same as everyone else.
