Darius43 Posted October 3, 2022 Author Posted October 3, 2022 New arrival… The model has a nice feel to it and is about as quirky as you can get in rtr form. However it has its share of inaccuracies which has caused a veritable surfeit of mouth foaming amongst the illuminati on RMWeb. Anyway, I like it. Nil desperandum. Cheers Darius 4 Quote
Galteemore Posted October 3, 2022 Posted October 3, 2022 I like it too. As you say, something different. Must look nice with those rods doing their stuff. Quote

Darius43 Posted October 3, 2022 Author Posted October 3, 2022 Roof details in the wrong place on one side, not enough nose grilles on the other side, numbers in the wrong place on one side etc. The thread on RMWeb has more details should you be desperate enough to read it. To paraphrase the late Eric Morecambe, it has all the right details but not necessarily in the right places… Cheers Darius 1 Quote

Darius43 Posted January 2, 2023 Author Posted January 2, 2023 (edited) At the far end of the shed the scenic levels cease to be scenic and pass behind a workdesk. The baseboards to the lower of the two scenic levels have now been constructed and track laid. The two photos above show the extent of what will be the scenic part of the layout with the tracks passing through a rocky cutting before entering a tunnel portal before the tracks curve round into the non-scenic part behind the desk. The white patches beneath the track in the above two photos are where it transitions from Code 75 Bullhead to Code 100. Because the code 100 sleepers are deeper, cardboard “ramps” have been installed beneath the code 75 track. The tracks currently terminate at the abutments for what will be lift-out double track “bridges” that span across the door opening to the shed. There will be two bridges: one for the lower double track; and one for the upper level double track, which is yet to be constructed. The Mk3 coaches and Railway Gun were used to ensure there are no clashes between stock and anything else when trains transit the curves. Cheers Darius Edited January 2, 2023 by Darius43 7 Quote
Darius43 Posted January 7, 2023 Author Posted January 7, 2023 HO gauge tunnel portal modified to provide a bit more room at the base. Cheers Darius 4 Quote
Darius43 Posted January 8, 2023 Author Posted January 8, 2023 Wing walls constructed, painted and weathered along with the tunnel portal. Wing walls attached. Cheers Darius 3 Quote
Darius43 Posted January 8, 2023 Author Posted January 8, 2023 Dummy tunnel lining fitted. Cheers Darius 4 Quote
Darius43 Posted January 9, 2023 Author Posted January 9, 2023 Second portal completed. Cheers Darius 5 Quote
Darius43 Posted January 29, 2023 Author Posted January 29, 2023 Removable “bridge” across the shed door - track laying completed. This is the bridge for the lower scenic double track circuit. A second bridge will be required for the upper scenic circuit. The intention is for the bridge sections to be the “switch” that powers the bridge tracks and 2m of track by either side of the bridge opening. That way no trains can approach the “chasm” if the bridge is not in place. Cheers Darius 7 Quote
Darius43 Posted February 4, 2023 Author Posted February 4, 2023 Bridge now working Cheers DariuS 6 Quote
Darius43 Posted February 5, 2023 Author Posted February 5, 2023 More fun today in the shed. The Hornby rebuilt W1 is on the limit of what it can pull. Work on the scenic side of things will recommence in a week or so. Right now we are enjoying continuous running for the first time in almost 5 years. Cheers Darius 4 Quote
