hello everyone, I'm not from Ireland, so I'm not very versed in the local railway, but yesterday, apparently, 2 old passenger cars were pulled out of the Mullingar station depot, apparently they will be cut in the coming days, can someone tell me what kind of cars these are and what are they doing there? at the moment, the wagons are still standing at the end of the abandoned part of the Mullingar station.

here are photos of these cars, sorry for the poor quality, I took pictures on the phone in the evening, today I will go with the camera

There mustn’t be very much stuff left that is “GSR livery appropriate” perhaps we can import some Pullman’s and put some 5,3 bogeys under them…

In theory, all of the following could authentically wear GSR livery:  1. The MGWR six wheeler at Clifden.  2. The one at Whitehead. 3. The two MGWR ones at Downpatrick. 4. RPSI heritage coaches 1142 and 1337.  5. IE’s 351. 6. DCDR’s 1287, 836 and 1097.  7. The two liberated from Mullingar this week. There’s a dozen vehicles!

Oh yes, DCDR’s No. 69 (6 wheeler) also.

813 looks great in that livery, however if it’s going to maam cross I imaging a coat of GSR livery will be applied once the apropriate TLC has been applied

813 does look great in that green. Remember seeing it buried in the shed back in 1997, was in good condition even as a tarry.     I had always thought it was non-corridor compartment as it was a suburban dia carriage, but the ends show a corridor plated over.

813, from memory, is about 1908/10.  I’ll check when I get home.

If anyone has a good colour photo of that coach in good condition and in that livery, I’d love to see it….I am addicted to that livery

I have a couple of those where did you get the green paint from?

That green paint was humbrol 14ml enamel emerald green

Marks used to have it however it’s no longer stocked due to the fact it has a fractional trace of a cancer causing agent (or something like that) so the EU deemed it illegal. I’ll have to find a substitute…
