steventrain Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Have a look here http://railwayherald.com/uknews/class-68-livery-revealed Quote
RedRich Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Thanks for the link Steve. It's strange that it has been classified as Class 68 when there is a Class 70. Mind you it's possibly not the first time it's happened. Rich, Quote
Riversuir226 Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Im sure its to do with the power the loco has. The last one of the 60's was the 67's so that might explain the 68 class. It looks terrible to me, a cross between a 67 and a 70 yuk!!!!!! Quote
Warbonnet Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Better looking than a class 70 Just about! Lol The 68 is an upgrade on the 67, with a new power unit and made from lighter materials (the 67 has a bit of a weight issue, restricting it from lots of lines) The strange one will always be the 70, as on the tops numbering system number 70 and above was traditionally for electric traction. It'll be interesting to see who does a model of it 1st. The livery looks well, not sure about the face. A bit like an ugly but well dressed lady! Quote
Flying Scotsman 4472 Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 I don't know about ugly the more I look at it the more it grows on me. Any word on Bachmann brining out a model of her yet Quote
BosKonay Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 I love the 70 and this is even better But then I do love odd looking locos Quote
Warbonnet Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 I don't know about ugly the more I look at it the more it grows on me. Any word on Bachmann brining out a model of her yet Bachmann announce their products for the year in March. I'd say they'll announce the rights to do it (ala like they did with the 70) and it will come out in about 18 months time or so. That's if they choose to do it. I read that some will be delivered in Northern Belle livery too so there will be 2 liveries to do. Quote
Garfield Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 I actually think it's an attractive design. The DRS livery is one of the nicer ones around, too... Quote
Flying Scotsman 4472 Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 It's not fair Pat. IE give their modellers the new logo and DRS give their modellers a new loco with a fantastic paint job. Who do we complain to Quote
