Methinks an oul shpin up to GVS quite soon might be in order; few pints in the Crown, and home.

GVS closes to rail from May 24th

19:00 Dublin Connolly to Lanyon Place due 21:05 has been delayed at Newry and is now 21 minutes late.
This is due to being delayed in Irish Rail.
Last Updated :12/03/2024 20:39
Scheduled Expected  Destination
19:00 19:00 Dublin Connolly
19:34 19:34 Drogheda
19:55 19:55 Dundalk
20:13 20:34 Newry
20:33 20:54 Portadown
21:05 21:26 Lanyon Place
20:50 Connolly to Belfast held in Connolly due to a technical issue.
Update to follow.

Looks like the 2050 ex Connolly has ran into problems.

The train is approaching 30 minutes delayed… Do not be surprised if it is replaced by a unit.

Even if it is, the 2050 xDublin can only be an Irish Rail set to Drogheda as the 2005 xBelfast will most likely be used to form it Drogheda - Belfast.

This could mean a railcar on the 0735 x Dublin and 1035 x Belfast tomorrow.

So on 14/03/2023, the 1605 ex Belfast failed at Dundalk, resulting in a 29000 working it from Dundalk, a 29000 on the 1900 ex Dublin to Dundalk and a CAF from Dundalk…

One year later, on 14/03/2024

16:05 Lanyon Place to Dublin Connolly due 18:17 is being delayed at Newry and is now expected to be 25 minutes late.
This is due to a train fault.

So if I go on my trip to Dublin (25th May) can I expect…

Train to go straight from Adelaide to City Hospital?

Entered GVS rather than City Hospital

Good question as the line will be closed to Lisburn at least. So either Newry or Portadown?

Enterprise back to normal then!

Slightly harsh. The Enterprise service has been remarkably reliable this year so far. More issues with signal failures, trespassing etc than the actual train itself.

A point often overlooked is the coaching stock is now 27 years old and locomotives 29 years old.
At this stage the much glorified Irish Rail Mk3s were being recycled to bean tins and the 071’s gone from front line passenger duties.
Northern Ireland Railways 80 Class were on their knees by this stage.
Meanwhile the 201’s and the DD’s keep pounding away with up over 700 miles a day required for one turn.
Things could be a lot worse.

Indeed - I have only counted three substitutes this year so far

17/02/2024 0735 ex Dublin 22003 empty to Dublin

17/02/2024 1035 ex Belfast 3002+3003 empty to Belfast

26/02/2024 1035 ex Belfast & 1320 ex Dublin 3004+3005
