UP6936 Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 Looks good, im sure it'll be a fun build. Did you get a donor coach?
Seanw12 Posted February 5, 2014 Author Posted February 5, 2014 Yes it will be fun and the donor coach should be here tomorrow
UP6936 Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 I echo heirflicks comment, looks great. Might have a go myself if I can get a few wagons for a decent price
Seanw12 Posted February 5, 2014 Author Posted February 5, 2014 You should and there not that hard to make
UP6936 Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 I have a few wagons in the eBay watch list with a couple of days to run on them, so provided I can get a decent price im going to have a go at it.
Seanw12 Posted February 5, 2014 Author Posted February 5, 2014 I might myself only got one to see how it would go and it turned out good
Seanw12 Posted February 5, 2014 Author Posted February 5, 2014 Anyone know what to use to make a bubble cement wagon
Dunluce Castle Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 Kinder egg plastic shells on a dapol chassis?
UP6936 Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 Apparently a kinder egg and a Dapol prestwin is the easiest way to go about it. Not sure if the new, hinged eggs work though.
Seanw12 Posted February 13, 2014 Author Posted February 13, 2014 Just stuck on the sides of the EGV and I'm going to spray primer on it later
Glenderg Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Are you not going to put the panels on the roof?
Warbonnet Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 I am after I spray it with primer May as well do the panels before the primer, otherwise you'll be priming the roof again.
Seanw12 Posted June 5, 2014 Author Posted June 5, 2014 Anyone know what's the best thing to make a small hill on my layout?
BosKonay Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Polystyrene packing / extruded foam works well, you can carve it to shape with a breadknife and then cover it with modroc (plaster impregnated fabric). Depending on the size, you can also scrunch up newspaper / waste card and cover it with the modroc too...

Dave Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Hi Sean, I use pink foam available from Woodies for €9.99 a sheet of 1200mm x 600mm x 60mm deep. Glue it together with PVA and shape it with a carving knife. You can paint it dark green then apply scenery.
BosKonay Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 That looks brilliant Dave. Do you apply paint and scenery direct to the foam?
