rebelred Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Hi lads, I'm hoping someone here might be able to help me out. I've been looking for the above 4 road engine road for ages now but I am having no luck,3 times I had it paid for only to be told it's out of stock!! I've found a few on sites in the UK but some are looking for ridiculous money to deliver it while the others are doing pick up only. Any help would be appreciated
Killucan2 Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Could be wrong but I did think I spotted one on the top shelf in marks last week, worth a call.
rebelred Posted September 23, 2014 Author Posted September 23, 2014 Was that Cork or Dublin? The only one I saw was the 2 engine shed but I'll give them a buzz tomorrow.
aclass007 Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 What about using Parcel Motel for getting one from the UK? They might post it to Northern Ireland for a lot less....
Dave Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Parcel motel is great, I use it all the time.
DiveController Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Graham-Farish-4-Road-Engine-Shed-New-and-Boxed-/161429053207?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item2595ebdf17 No bidders on this at present......... Just call the shops, they'll often ship it even if they say they won't on their site
Noel Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 Parcel motel is great, I use it all the time. Ditto It's faster, costs less, and all UK websites will ship to the NI address overnight in most cases. No more 'seller does not ship to Ireland' problems. I use it all the time. Parcels are usually delivered to our local Parcel Motel pick up point by 23:00hrs the night after it was shipped from UK websites (i.e. overnight to NI and evening to down here).

rebelred Posted September 23, 2014 Author Posted September 23, 2014 How does the Parcel Motel work then? Do you put their address in the delivery info & they tell you when its dropped off at the nearest machine to you??
aclass007 Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 How does the Parcel Motel work then? Do you put their address in the delivery info & they tell you when its dropped off at the nearest machine to you?? Basically, yes....
irishthump Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 How does the Parcel Motel work then? Do you put their address in the delivery info & they tell you when its dropped off at the nearest machine to you?? Yeah. You'll get an email and a text from them telling you the parcel has arrived. It costs €3.95 per parcel and still often works out cheaper since many sellers offer free UK shipping.
DiveController Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 I think that's N gauge..... It does't say but I think you may be right 42-050 is N and 44-050 is OO, I think. Sorry. THere are others on there
burnthebox Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 This may be what your looking for, don't know about price, http://www.ebay.ie/itm/251479094802?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2648
aclass007 Posted September 23, 2014 Posted September 23, 2014 (edited) This may be what your looking for, don't know about price, http://www.ebay.ie/itm/251479094802?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2648 They want £5.50stg (€7) to post it to the UK, and £60.00stg (€76.40) to post it to Ireland! What a rip off! Parcel Motel would save you a few euro there..... Edited September 23, 2014 by aclass007
rebelred Posted September 24, 2014 Author Posted September 24, 2014 (edited) I've ordered on on a uk site through Parcel Motel, it says its the last one- that's what I was told the 3 times previously only to be told later it's gone, so fingers crossed!!! Thanks again lads (;-) Edited September 24, 2014 by rebelred spelling
rebelred Posted September 29, 2014 Author Posted September 29, 2014 Haven't heard anything yet DiveController, will post as soon as I know.
DiveController Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 I'm thinking of using Parcel Motel myself for the occasional items that I want but the UK vendor absolutely refuses to ship overseas! That way I can get someone else to send it or pick it up on the occasional time I'm back in the home country!

Just be careful when doing that, it's not unknown for sellers to cancel orders when they see parcel motel. Its due to not being able to properly track packages to their final destination.
DiveController Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 I though that Parcel motel signed for the package and that was its final destination as far as the vendor is concerned?
BosKonay Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Pm sign for the item then you get their tracking from there. You also post it to their address with your name on it so parcel motel isn't mentioned
snapper Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 I though that Parcel motel signed for the package and that was its final destination as far as the vendor is concerned? As I understand it the problem arises when there is a PayPal dispute, where the sender now has no proof that the intended recipient has received, only proof it got to parcel motel leaving sellers open to fraud.

BosKonay Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 I've only ever put my name and pm Id on shipments.
Dave Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 I only put my name and ID on parcels too. Ordered from Gaugemaster today and they wanted £16 postage, got it free through PM so only costs €3.95 Happy days!

Can't see how that's right. You can only collect your parcel with a code that is sent to your mobile phone by Parcel Motel.
Noel Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 How does the Parcel Motel work then? Do you put their address in the delivery info & they tell you when its dropped off at the nearest machine to you?? 1. You register an account with them 2. You specify your local pick up location 3. Use their address as your delivery address BUT with your registered ID number on 1st line of address (1 above) 4. When they deliver to your local pickup location you get an SMS and an email with a pin number 5. You goto the pickup point enter your phone number and pin number and hey presto one of the doors opens with your parcel inside http://www.parcelmotel.com
rebelred Posted September 30, 2014 Author Posted September 30, 2014 I put my name, id , then put 'Parcel Motel' followed by their address. I hope that doesn't screw up my order! I'll know what to do next time!!
DiveController Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 Can't see how that's right. You can only collect your parcel with a code that is sent to your mobile phone by Parcel Motel. I wonder if some vendors make extra on the postage and don't want to send it to parcel Motel if they've calculated that postage markup into the original selling price?
rebelred Posted October 1, 2014 Author Posted October 1, 2014 ATTACH=CONFIG]15344[/ATTACH] Got a text at 7am this morning telling me my parcel has arrived, Thank you Parcel Motel!!!
