What will they be Dave?

I have some Studio Scale Models transfers on the way from @Weshty.

A random selection.

The yellow is too pale for an ESB van and the green is too dark for an An Post van but I can't be bothred re-spraying so that's probably what they'll end up as.

Also de-branded a London Transport bus.

Looks very Irish to me afterwards.

I'm sure that @jhb171achill will be on this quicker than a tin van to tell me that it's the wrong green and the wrong body syle and to remove the window lining and to make sure that the snails upper arm points forward, but meh, it'll do!

That's a lovely bus, right colour wrong colour doesn't bother me, the only time anything is the original colour is when it's new after that it's either sun bleached, panel beaten, covered in road shite or just worn, anything will work in my opinion, have fun lad.

Speaking of fun...

Had to remove the body off a bin lorry yesterday as the fuel tank was loose inside the packaging and had to be glued back in place, so I came up with this!

Removing the bodies to make container trucks.

The Ford Cargo is the easiest, perfect size, has a bed, just take the base off a C-Rail container and you're done.

The Scanias and the Oxford TK need beds made for them.

The two white EFE TK's were riveted together so out with the drill. Everything else was just held together with screws.

I pick these trucks up from Hatton's whenever they have cheap used ones for £7 or so each.

Looking at dismantling these two plastic Oxford DAF 2800's.

They look like mainly plastic construction, possibly glued together, on a diecast chassis.

Trying to figure out if the whole cab is one piece of clear plastic, painted where required, as the wipers appear moulded to both the body and to the windscreen.

The lower grille with the headlights, and the roof, appear to be distinct pieces, glued in place.

Has anybody tackled these before?

Correct, plastic upper, diecast lower. Bit of careful masking will protect the door/rear cab badging too

Disassembled one last night, slowly levering the pieces apart with a small flat-head screwdriver.

The tab on the back of the cab is crucial. Once that's loose, the rest is relatively straightforward.

The cab is indeed one single piece of clear plastic, painted in places.

Couldn't get the mirrors off and was afraid to apply too much pressure.

Love the new tipper trucks from Oxford!

Tiny bit dsappointed that the beds don't tip, so unscrewed one of mine to pose it in the up position using a trimmed down biro refill.

No chassis detail underneath the bed.

Again, the beds on these do NOT move, so don't be disappointed, but they CAN be unscrewed and jerry-rigged to look poseable.

Aside from that, lovely looking trucks.

They remind me of something from my childhood but I'm not quite sure what, too hazy.

I was about to suggest that "they need some mud!" - then I remembered a time when I used to do a bit for a plant hire firm and a brand new bucket for a Caterpillar arrived. It had the best finish that I've ever seen on an 'industrial' product. Thick, hard, perfectly even, high-quality paintwork.

Pushing it into the ground the first time would actually have been painful.

With something like 9,000 hectares on fire and almost 13,000 people in shelters, and the fire reaching the point where it can no longer be extinguished, it seemed poignant to have a look at these two today.

Green Godesses from both Oxford and Corgi. The Oxford one is probably better overall but I prefer the look of the valves on the back of the Corgi model.

Bit of glue at lunchtime, feel a wonderful high after getting so many wing mirrors sorted.

The plate that holds the axles down on the Lucey trailer was broken into four seperate pieces so let's see if that lasts.

One of the buses was missing a mirror and one was missing a windscreen, floating around loose in the boxes. Can't even tell which was which, now.

The two weathered Tinnelly cabs were purchased with only three loose mirrors, so nothing I can do about that one for now.

Anyhow, that's enough stimulation for today, back to work.
