Hi Just to say the Show was the same but different , smaller hall but had a diesel -class 37 as centre piece lovely layouts -mostly working well but all well chosen. However as the magazine has other modelling titles show showcased military, air and Sci fi hobbies so a good mix but certainly model railways seemed most active part of show when I was there on the Sunday- well worth a second visit as hall was booked for a show in 2025 same weekend. JM Design RTR Brake Vans now on pre-order for delivery Oct-Nov 2024.
Robert Shrives replied to Mayner's topic in News
Hi these look very good and I guess essential for back end of many trains back in the day. Robert -
Hi Often called strapping or "iron works. You can buy etched sheets to cut out, also a product called Archer rivets which are a resin rivet head on transfer/ decal backing sheets in varying specs and these can be laid on to and painted - very effective. 4MM33: Wagon Strapping – Wizard Models Limited Hope that helps Robert

Chocks do stop a runaway if the external handbrake released by ****tards making up for lack of school career. On BR class 31s had chocks as handbrake could not be relied on and secondmen tasked with securing loco/ removing once air brake applied on startup. I can see the loco has also been pulled off the wagons ready for the run round. Grand phots as ever. Robert

No, but sure they must along with a MK1 GSV on a well known gangs radar! Robert

Orange Is The New Black - Iconic Mark 2B and 2C Coaches Announced
Robert Shrives replied to Warbonnet's topic in News
Looking forward to mine, but now of course I have a big pile of part started Lima conversions. I will end up with more buffet conversions than in real life! The B4 bogie packs arrived today which is good as I can now faff with GSV models for B5 bogies, just in time for the announcement of Dutch and Mk1 gen brakes ... Robert -
Hi, perhaps missed somewhere but spotted on web shop spare B4 bogies available- bought 4 packs for other projects given how well they run. fun if B5s got on the shop as well as ideal for EGVs. Robert

Does that mean they "sound flat".... as compared to sharp, gets summer coat and leaves stage left! Robert

RAL numbers for authentic railway liveries
Robert Shrives replied to jhb171achill's topic in General Chat
Very interesting stuff, thanks to all involved in a heady afternoon! Now if I was to mention scale colour or colour at scale should I get a coat? Robert -
Patrick, Just caught up with the news , good luck with the move and hope in time you can share new works, no rush it is a hobby after all. A big thank you for letting us share the layout and the inspirational words and pictures over the life of the layout. Robert

Magnetic couplers for Airfix Mk2d coaches
Robert Shrives replied to Newtoncork's topic in Irish Models
Hunt Magnetic Couplings ELITE **BUCKEYE** - Close Coupling Clip Couplings for Airfix Mk2 Coaches - OO Gauge (westhillwagonworks.com) Is what you are after, the black plate on top of coupling lifts off it coupling will not pull past peg inside, having just looked at a bogie in a box of bits of a part started rake. Used couplings in N and are very good. Many have bought more and firm has a large physical presence as interweb shop. hope that helps Robert- 1 reply

I think the bank balance will take hit fellow modellers, given how IRM happily sell the packs of everything then surely the holy grail will be three RPSI locos in one pack for £1000 ( 4/85/131) . followed up with 3 jeep packs to celebrate the rtr spoil wagon now I have 12 in a rake ready for a loco or three. Haulin' Oats! Grain Wagons Next For IRM's "Project Bulleid"
Robert Shrives replied to Warbonnet's topic in News
Brake van deffo needed now. I guess it goes against the "grain" but just ordered a pack on the back of paying for the PW flats. Robert -
Brilliant work and hopefully encourage the boys in the Ivory tower that is IRM to get one rtr! Robert

Haulin' Oats! Grain Wagons Next For IRM's "Project Bulleid"
Robert Shrives replied to Warbonnet's topic in News
A good next move on a common chassis, but teasing with the emotions on other things like the Hunslets and early livery enterprise stock !! I hope they find a home on many layouts. Robert -
Just found this thread and it looks a big budget exercise! confident use of glass which I hope bodes well for the future. Tickled that worker safety concerns higher than end user with platforms fully barriered to stop falls during build - are the builders not to be trusted! Looking at bus working edge I hope some sort of double deck canopy as it seems a shame in what can be a quite damp climate at times (?) that you can alight on to a dry platform and navigate a vast concourse still in the dry but then get wet for 1m while boarding an enclosed bus. Penny of tar syndrome. Cannot wait for it to open and look forward to one day seeing OLE gracing the place. Hopefully such quality is a start for more thoughtful spending for the future. Robert

Just to add on the three some!! I now have 2 from first batch and 154 from this batch and all lovely models. now need to find time to build suitable layout in my loft - slightly more possible as found some boards in good order - albeit 50 years old! This loco will get a spot of filth for fun. Robert
-
Hopefully the bottom line after the coaches go out will be enough to see some heating vans from IRM. I have two silver fox ones but would hope an rtr one would help many of the new converts to 5` 3." My RPSI rake now complete - diesel hauled for now ... Robert

Model Rail gauge interest in C class
Robert Shrives replied to Killian Keane's topic in General Chat
An interesting bit of fun, several I guess have been helped over the "line" because of this . Model Rail I do not think have done one as a result but this if the first would be fun. Robert -
I guess waiting on announcing original livery/ Hunslet project, well hopefully. Robert

Hi Publicity looks to suggest a rerun of Ally Pally shows in London but I guess room for enlargement. NEC costs are eyewatering so it will be very interesting to see how the new "Warnley" show develops hope the Warners team of paid staff can pull of a show to match the volunteer run one. I wish them well in this show. Robert

Brilliant and using the formation guide just shows the marketing ploy for the gen brake, I look forward to buying 2 of these, bound to happen as I was about to add some white lines on a model tomorrow, having gained a free day. I suspect the high spec model will come with a sound facility built in even on DC and perhaps a wand switched taillamps - plug in accessory , but DCC version will have guards conversations, door slams and gen start up stuff. Now for a smoke unit!! - that can be retro into the new NIR stock and the soon to be announced MK1 EGV sets ..... April announcement dates I guess. Robert
-
With all the talk about unwanted stock - It would be fun to alter a bumble bee MKK2 So into micro buffet 548 or was it 916 with the air con windows on one side? I guess both are beyond the niche horizon for IRM rtr versions. 548 was a bit more upmarket than the BR TSOT variation as had a the window behind counter was paneled over, BR kept frame often with glass painted over. - There is this version in the AS BR range to be.
