A 3d printed 800 class for 00 (and a WLWR goods loco)
Galteemore replied to Killian Keane's topic in Irish Models
Is this ‘’Goliath” and closely related to ‘Shannon’ as built by Richard Chown and now owned by @David Holman? -
Amazing how much GN atmosphere it retained at the first closure. This is the last steam train to depart GVS in 1975 https://www.geograph.ie/photo/3393960

Well done Alan. Must say I hate the whole wheels on/wheels off process associated with loco building! And as for pickups - I can see why clockwork has its advocates ….. -
Ernies Massive Irish 1930's to 2005 Photo Archive

It’s delightful I agree. But did nothing to make such lines viable given the traffic density. I remember reading a quote in a book about Col Stephens and his railways, describing how horrified he would be about such high standards on a tertiary route! One of the reasons the SLNC limped on as long as it did is that its PW was just good enough to work. That said, I do recall with nostalgia the GN main up to the 80s when the mileposts between Dundalk and Drogheda had manicured grass surrounds… -

Looks good. Know what you mean. I’d be terrified about weathering really nice models like that. At least with when it comes to my own scratchbuilds and weathering I know what faults need concealed!

Most enjoyable trip to see Bruckless today - bumped into @leslie10646which is always a bonus! Great to meet @Andy Cundick and get a guided tour of Donegal stock over the decades! Thanks for all your patient explanations to my questions Andy! Not to mention the impromptu railcar parade Exquisite stock and a lovely background against which to view it all. See it if you can !

That’s incredible. One of the most difficult Irish locos to model given the paucity of footplate.
-
The tram crossing the Bridge looks like a Chamberlain car, delivered c1928-30. So possibly early 30s. Definitely pre-war.

That’s reassuring. Roger Crombleholme, who bought a standard gauge loco for preservation in 1965, is also still actively designing Irish kits

Fabulous work. And if the chassis runs as well as that - everything else is just window dressing! -

And don’t forget the curator of Lisburn Museum’s folk artefacts - Herr Loom. -
Is this simply a CBSC problem or have similar issues emerged with other OO works locos?
-
Looks good. Has some good potential. I wouldn’t bother adding more track to be honest. On a small layout, it’s tempting to cram in too much track. Sometimes less is more! If anything I’d feed that siding to building 5 off the loop to make it easier to work.

I think he’s referring to the working life of the model on this occasion….based on previous posts….is that correct @Westcorkrailway?

Lots of delicate work Alan. Agreed though - always easier to cut a hole in a solid cylinder than try to create some open sided structure ! -

What’s the loco fireman’s favourite Elvis hit? ‘love me tender’. I’ll get me coat - Teddy boy jacket of course …. -

Might actually be an opportunity to reinstate the old distinction of ‘Enterprise’ trains amongst the normal run of Belfast-Dublin trains. -

Will be fascinating to see what they come up with. Probably not loco-hauled. Something like this? https://www.globalrailwayreview.com/news/115884/hitachi-eversholt-rail-gwr-battery-hybrid-train/ -
Probably used to people falling for her all the time.

Fabulous. Hope Mr Weaver was in the mood for it. -
My son is a daily commuter into London (and is a professional railwayman to boot). He has a choice of routes and opts for these whenever he can above more modern offerings!

Unlikely I’d say. She’ll be on the Cravens down south and Mk2s up north if she heads there.
