  1. Lovely Ernie. Let us hope that one day you discover a similarly large cache of SLNC snaps which merits a similar Flickr blitz! The Lawderdale one is a lovely cameo.
  2. Think it must be Blackrock - and plans are afoot in Cork to restore the footbridge. The red brick station building can be seen in both the historic and contemporary photos, even if greenery has camouflaged much else. https://www.corkcity.ie/en/council-services/news-room/press-releases/work-to-begin-on-blackrock-station-refurbishment.html
  3. The dereliction is clearly well advanced by 1963, suggesting a closure some considerable time before. Blackrock on the C B and P ?
  4. With the quality of so much Irish RTR nowadays, much to be said for a photo plank - esp if you haven’t room for much of a layout. I’ve always had to build tiny layouts of late and they make great stages for experimenting- all the more so given the filters etc even a smartphone offers. Last year I had a play with some daylight and cotton wool…
  5. Good books are always money well spent, and worth it if they help you raise your game. Excellent work as ever, David. That image of Fermanagh rolling in is sublime.
  6. The happy days before track permits! Look at the two jokers on the tender….according to Galteemore snr, it was standing room only on the tender that trip. Lovely winter sunshine at Stranorlar too, which my dad also liked - he managed two trips in 59 before it shut. Looks like an ex Ballymena coach at stage left
  7. That is lovely work Ken - nice mix of technologies too. Those singles are a most interesting proposition to get running well, as I know from an MGW one! Lovely looking little engine.
  8. Indeed, Humbrol do a bespoke ‘buffer beam red’, which I have used. Many modellers actually use a dusky pink, which is what the real thing looks like fairly quickly in service.
  9. Well the forum’s going to be quiet tonight as everyone goes to their layout and tries out those doors…
  10. Some pipe runs may help Patrick - wall mounted steam pipes from a boiler house ? Also scope for things like a projecting jib for a crane, or even a fire escape ladder….
  11. Useful background here https://www.seamusjking.com/sjk-articles/2014/10/28/span-classposttitlethe-cashel-extension-railwayspan-supplement-nationalist-centenary-1890-1990-pp-110-112
  12. Cashel had a pretty striking location beside the Rock. Love this early view of it showing that classic turn of the century look - what wonderful ballasting!
  13. Could well be Mountmellick. This Ciaran Cooney image is rather similar in layout, esp with regard to the gate and the pole locations. Don’t blame you re 132 - that big tender and IRRS headboard makes it merge in your mind with the many published images of 132 on such duties! I also thought it was 132 at first.
  14. Nice. Unusual, as at Thurles, to see a distant signal within station limits!
  15. I missed the middle in fairness(only skimmed through till I hit the first train bit!). Good to see a heritage railway picking up a bit of business.
  16. Not all of it….the establishing shots were filmed at Whitehead (NIR).
  17. Excellent tip on the books, Mark. My copy of the SSG volume arrived today - excellent read. The Register, which I acquired a few months ago, is an incredibly useful volume too, rammed full of SLNC photos too! The former is still quite easy to find - recommended while you can get it.
  18. This may help - decade old but maybe useful….http://georgedentmodelmaker.blogspot.com/2013/01/klear-ing-things-up.html?m=1 Could also ask the company direct ?
  19. Excellent- have a good day. Blessingbourne is one of those Irish locos like the BCDR Baltics and the NCC 2-4-4T that looked so powerful but sadly failed to deliver what their appearance promised! Although I was struck by a very insightful comment in Bill Scott’s book that 110 in many ways anticipated the appearance of the 5’3 WT class a decade and a half later…..sorry - off on a tangent !
  20. Best wishes for the recovery Mark. Looks good on the building front. How did you get the brickwork looking so good?
  21. And I And a card kit available from Alphagraphix, IIRC - the bogies certainly are, as w/m castings.
  22. Great stuff. Interesting shot of the Kiltubrid siding too, which often appears at an odd angle in photos as it branched so abruptly off a curve.
  23. Can’t you just get an ex Lisburn train and change at Central ?
  24. Excellent work Angus. If Dromahair is too much, can always go for Florencecourt or Belcoo, which have similar footprint but single story. Indeed, Dromahair was once exactly the same as Florencecourt.
