Been watching this 171 the past week or so. Looks like a junker, parts donor or a restoration project.

That Seon Ruiz chap puts in a massive amount of offers. Pretty sure I've bought one or two things where he has offered and then contacted the sellers in private to withdraw his offer.
Try asking @murphaph, @Dempsey, @Noel , @JasonB, @irishthump , @Georgeconna or any of the members posting their work in the "Workbench" area. There are lots more, I've only listed a handful.
Poor old girl. Hopefully somebody obtains a plethora of photos before she dies, so that IRM can commission a special run of ex-Dublin buses for the UK market.
He's a bit of an Evan Kelly, so you either sold it for less than that, or sold it for more than that and now something inside is missing... Sawdust on the cogs or something.
I suspect the Irish connection is even more vague, like, "I'm @BosKonay and I love trolling you all. Trolls are green so there's an Irish connection" ...
Thank you. Now I see it on the underside, there is one pipe at one end, and a little hole where this second pipe should be, then a valve thing at the other end, and a hole where there should probably be a second valve.
Absolutely incredible attention to detail!!!
What's the difference between a Mk2/2A Second Open and a Mk2/2A Tourist Second Open, when talking about donor coaches?
Are there external differences or only internal differences?
Rails of Sheffield have just announced a new run of Dapol's Class 68...
Looks like there are one or two that would be ideal for hauling the Accurascale Mk5 TransPennine Express coaches.

I wonder if @Sean has seen this thread. The plans, size and general discussion remind me of one of his layouts. He may have some advice on how moving from plan to reality worked out in his case.
Although I disagree with your use of the term "proper loco", I agree with your sentiment and I'd rather a mainline loco than a yard-only loco.
Maybe if we both shave our heads, or shave each others' heads, IRM will run a mainline BO-BO for us.
