  1. Love the odd buffers on 059 https://www.flickr.com/photos/johnmightycat/5628762978/in/set-72157626386375365/
  2. You're such a helpful soul Mark!
  3. The Chairperson of the MRSI no less.
  4. Nice! And not a sign of 3 rail thankfully!
  5. Hope you're doing okay Shem, condolences. May she Rest in Peace.
  6. Close up to confirm here http://catalogue.nli.ie/Collection/vtls000148612/Home?lookfor=&type=AllFields&filter%5B%5D=%21id%3A%22vtls000148612%22&filter%5B%5D=digitised%3A%22Digitised%22&filter%5B%5D=geographic_facet%3A%22Dublin+%28County%29%22&sort=year&page=18&view=list
  7. Tried to get that imposter out of my house in Rome the other week, couldn't get close enough!
  8. A clutch of 201s, Alsthom DARTS, One of the railcar classes.... There's been a few recently!
  9. Absolutely, any of you's fancy having a go at this one? Tis one of my favourite parts of the hobby. Nice work Tom!
  10. One of my old haunts Wanderer, great pics!
  11. Looking forward David. And if you can organise an etched plate for the number on the sides it would be mega!
  12. I'll sleep easier tonight now.
  13. As far as I know places like Bachmann and Hornby have or at least had their own draughtsman to do the design from drawings, photos etc. I believe Heljan hire in people with expertise in the loco they're modelling and get them to add their thoughts to the cad their designer draws up. Explains why the fidelity of their products is improving in the last few years.
  14. If IE were serious about freight they could do a rebuilt on the mothballed 201s - rip out any unnecessary gear, smaller 710 engine or equivalent if required but I think I have a better chance of managing IE than that happening. It would be great to see Inchicore rebuilding locos to that extent though. Pipe dream sadly.
  15. 071s are a more versatile loco, lighter so can be used on the Taras and don't smash the track to bits. I can't say for denfinite but I would wager that a properly fettled 071 is better on fuel and more reliable, but I'm sure someone who knows better will tell me that I'm taking out of my hoop!
  16. Other parkside kits like the 12 ton Vanwide will give you the ends as shown in Richie's second pic if you want to kitbash. Alternatively, you could buy a 2nd hand Lima, Mainline, Hornby or Bachmann van for a few quid and cut up accordingly.
  17. 7mm from Slaters also available...
  18. And here is an idiots guide on how to build one http://irishrailwaymodeller.com/showthread.php/2474-Warbonnet-s-Workbench-Windowsill
  19. We have a silent majority on the site, our members and active posters figures suggest that anyway! Interesting about the Bachmann Shays considering how rubbish a lot of their American outline is. Though their recent products are earning much better reviews. Never tempted by BR at all David, it being on your doorstep and all?
  20. Parkside do a 4mm kit. So easy to build that I even managed it! Mine is being kept in UK spec though...
  21. Very nice David, I guess the foreign stuff doesn't hold that much interest with a lot of members. I like the bachmann shays, how do they run?
  22. British Pathe have uploaded its 85,000 from vintage newsreels from Ireland, going back to when Wrenneire was coming of age in the 1900s all the way up to the 70s. I know most of us modellers are equipped with a nostalgic streak and will enjoy this, not to mention the value of the footage when it comes to buildings, road vehicles etc. Archive starts here https://www.youtube.com/user/britishpathe/search?query=dublin
  23. No worries, I'll have to get some and see what bits look right.
  24. what dia wire are you using Nelson? Need to add some to my own parkside and ratio kits...
