  1. Hi guys, A bit of a long shot, but since they're used as MIR 071 donors from time to time someone might have one kicking around... I'm after a pair of Proto 2000 SD9 bodies. Livery doesn't matter, but the more complete and in good condition the better. Let me know if you have one kicking about gathering dust and I'll give you a few quid for it. Will consider a Broadway/Paragon/Blueline body too, but not Athearn. Have too many of them already! Thanks!
  2. Bit of a theme running here... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvI5mp_8g1w
  3. Top work, not tempted to do the Tyne Dock - Consett iron ore trains? Q6s, 9Fs and them fine bogie hoppers. Mmmm... Sorry, have a serious love of those trains. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHHpQ4oYabM
  4. Health and Safety brigade don't want you climbing up there anymore. If the wipers fail then the engine would be declared 'failed' I'd imagine. Gone are the days of get on with it and mend it sadly. That and they're probably a spot for corrosion where they join the body.
  5. A few pics from Roma Termini and Florence from my recent and long overdue holiday(!). Termini is a bit of a bugger for taking pics in with the shadows, especially with a phone! Anyway might be of interest to some. Travelled on this to Florence was one of the nicest trains I've ever been on. Comfortable, fast and stylish. Very impressive. Came back on one of these not quite as nice but very impressive all the same. Full set
  6. You know it makes sense Nothing wrong with some fictitious liveries, the 201 really does look well in the grey. Great job! Let's hope we see a couple of the real ones out and about in the grey.
  7. That layout was in BRM a month or two ago. There was some amount of moaning over it on RMWeb as it was seen to glorify the crime. I thought it was very well done.
  8. Looks great John, I would certainly be interested in a few.
  9. Best pic of her yet I like it.

  11. We had a couple of negative comments made about a couple of Irish models which caused an unbelievable shitstorm through the site. It's just not worth the hassle. On top of that reviews take time to write, should be written by someone who is qualified in the subject in hand and have a respected opinion. After all, what's good for one person might not be good enough for another. They take time too and that's a rare commodity for those of us who run the site as it is. Other model railway forums do not do reviews and they leave it to the magazines instead. Maybe New Irish Lines would be better placed to do reviews.

I can think of someone who could make it a reality for you...

Cheers man, knew I hadn't completely lost the plot yet! 078, now 087.... Hopefully they go back and treat 071 and the others accordingly.

Yep, 085 has this too. I think there is another one out there that's had similar treatment. Makes it far easier for us to spot!
  16. Whitemetal and resin I believe. You were moaning about kits, you were moaning about price, make your mind up! MIR professionally built will cost a good bit. Would love to see them back as much as anyone, but they wont be the cheap quick fix that some are looking for.
  17. Come on a bundle! Give me a bell, lost your number!
  18. Thought you wanted Ready to Run?
  19. That's a great bit of hammering driver 301, a OO gauge model of these is available too and tend to go cheap enough for a four car unit.
  20. If a Mark III is cut up and no gricer is there to witness the event, does it still exist?
  21. Look forward to seeing a video of her in her natural habitat around Connolly. You going to put the knitting up eventually too?
  22. I have a 166 but to be honest they don't look alike for me. Mine will be staying FGW which are currently worth a fortune on EBay!
  23. I like the livery itself, much better than that rotten old commuter livery. The yellow front could've been better but overall it's okay. It highlights at how little glass there is on the sides of these units though; a few small windows down the side. Don't strike me as particularly bright and airy. Also agree about the modern British liveries, apart from GNER there were very little if any I liked. Virgin is okay but not much after that. The freight company liveries tend to be much better.
