  1. I don't think so unless you adjust the CV settings on a DCC system to turn the sound off first. In DCC you can turn it off with F8.
  2. Can vouch for the Allegheny locos, they're lovely. BLI do some lovely steam locos too should you trot down that road.
  3. Athearn are doing the ACes later this year and Intermountain are doing the GEVOs.
  4. You after Norfolk Southern or UP heritage locos? Athearn do them in standard runs so you wont be paying a premium. Rolling stock, you'd be better buying from the UK or from ebay. Atlas, BLMA, Exactrail, Kato, Walthers/Proto200, Athearn, Intermountain all very nice.
  5. It was good man, pity my phone broke!
  6. Welcome to the Darkside! Ok, SD40s - Kato, Athearn did one too but their tooling has worn out and was pretty old. I would suggest holding off for a while as I would bet a Genesis one will be announced later this year. SD40-2 - Kato (avoid the first run as there was issues with pick ups) and Athearn RTR. SD 50/60 - Athearn SD70 spartan cab - Athearn Genesis. SD70M - Athearn Genesis SD70MAC - Kato and Athearn Genesis - both very good. SD70ACe and M-2 - MTH and Athearn Genesis - prefer the genesis myself. ES44s - Intermountain, Tower 55 and Athearn Genesis. Have 2 Intermountains, they're nice. Tower 55 is now defunct but still in demand. Athearn Genesis bought the tooling of the T55 and have recently released it with upgrades. Waiting to get one to compare but I reckon it has the Intermountain one licked. Dash 9 - Athearn RTR and Kato. Kato would be the one to go for. As for shopping. If you keep it to around $180 or below including shipping you shouldnt get stung by customs. Anything with sound youre looking at customs charge of around €50 on top of the price for customs. It's still competitive/cheaper than what you would pay here or in the UK. try http://www.modeltrainstuff.com, http://www.trainworld.com or Ebay. UK supplier http://www.modeljunction.info. I can post some pics of specific models you have in mind if you like (and I have them) Hope this helps.
  7. Ah I see, thanks for that!
  8. Nice vid. Wish I had bought a ticket for this run but there's always next time. Can anyone tell me why a dead 071 was towed from Dublin to Cork and back? Doesn't make much sense to me. Was it just for the boasting of having 2 071s up top?
  9. Marley Park, this evening. [video=youtube;IWsQgmq-fNs]
  10. I completely forgot about this! Balls anyway! Nice vid!
  11. Works of art. Fantastic and welcome to the site!
  12. Finally, after a 10 hour upload and some tech issues which messed up the end of the video (including 088 leaving Kildare) here it is. Plenty of variety. Clondalkin/Fonthill 074 - Limerick - Dublin Wagon Transfer (?) 234 - Dublin - Cork ICR 217 - Northwall - Ballina Liner Kildare 215 - Ballina - Northwall Liner 217 - Northwall - Ballina Liner (Was looped at Sallins) 219 - Cork - Dublin 074 - Wagon Transfer Inchicore to Limerick 721 Inspection Car ICR 223 - Dublin - Cork Ex Works 088 - Waterford - Ballina arrives and runs around its train 219 - Dublin - Cork Will try to upload the missing footage in a separate video. In the meantime, enjoy!
  13. Stick to the Jouef landfill so.
  14. For the first time an EMD SDP45 will be made in plastic. The SDP45 was a passenger version of the SD45. Must say I'm delighted, I want an SP one but the EL one looks fab. Will look great in Conrail too when they get around to it. Know most of you wont care, but I have something to look forward to!
  15. It looked superb, didn't make a great deal of fuss leaving with that heavy load so looks like they did a thorough job on her. I like the grey, something very 70s Southern Pacific SD40T-2 about them. Just needed another few locos coupled up for a nice lash-up!
  16. Nice one Tom. Have finished editing my video from Clondalkin/Fonthill and Kildare but wont get to upload it till tomorrow. In the meantime here's a pic. It was a great day to be lineside!
  17. I hope it's this but you never know! So if it's to be a special edition 071, which will it be?
  18. Interesting! Do we get our hopes up now for something major only to be disappointed or do we go down the road of cautious optimism? Maybe Marks can give us a clue? Could be a fun game!
  19. Have her at Kildare running around. Will upload later and check your video out. She looked pristine!
  20. I thought I had 5 pints when I saw that pic!
  21. The local shops will get the business if they stocked the paints, like Phoenix Precision and Railmatch. Marks has the Irish colours of Phoenix Precision but cannot get any more until Warley in November. BR colours are suddenly impossible to get!
  22. Crash repair? Fire/bomb damage? Looks to be be two coaches made into one. It was formerly a BR Mark II BFK (14111) I believe. This meant it started life as pressure vent, not aircon. Apparently converted by NIR from Brake Standard Generator Van to Brake Executive Generator Van in 1989. Maybe that's when it became the oddball in the video?
  23. So was there only aircon on one side of the coach?! That's crazy. Lima did ventilated and air con Mark 2s and Bachmann have Air Con Mark 2's coming out soon to go with their vent stock. Parts should be interchangeable amongst their own products. I have never seen a Mark 2 with that arrangement in the UK or here before.
  24. Wonder if this will make my Modelzone limited editions even more valuable? They did some nice ones over the years...
