No problem Colin, if you scroll up BSGSV has some good livery history in his post which might be of help!

Hi Joe, not to blow our own trumpet or anything, but we have accurate CIE 42ft flats coming out early next year that would be suitable for your needs. More info here https://irishrailwaymodels.com/collections/container-liners Cheers, Fran

Hi Colin, Many thanks for your kind words! If you wish to order paying a deposit, simply add the locos you want to your basket and select ‘bank transfer’ at the checkout. We will send you an invoice by email next week that you can login to and pay your deposit on. You can the go in and pay the balance on it thereafter! There will be room to convert them to 21mm. Cheers! Fran

Hi everyone, Firstly, thank you to everyone for your well wishes and support for this announcement, between kind words and orders. As you are probably aware, we were rather busy over the weekend with the show where of course we met many of you. It was the busiest we have ever been at a show so we are still trying to catch our collective breaths and today took a few hours to recharge the batteries. It's a huge undertaking from us and one we are relishing, and the A has a special place in our hearts, so we are delighted that we will be able to do the old girls justice in model form. CADs for the loco were finished (I think!) very late on Thursday evening, so while the shape and detail is there, there of course has been no time to do the decoration for them, they are currently in the 'to' do' pile at the moment, but we will put a list together of all the detail variants and liveries in the coming days to help you with your order. There are also prototype photos on the site in each loco so you can see what the livery is like (and thank you to the snappers who allowed us to use their images, you know who you are!) Now, somebody asked what the pixelated image I used as a teaser was. I'm so blinded by tiredness at this stage, I cannot find the post. but here it is.... Richie, Patrick and I surveyed A39 up in Downpatrick at the beginning of the heatwave this summer. It was a glorious day in so many ways. A special shout out has to go to the crew up there from the DCDR and the ITG, both of which could not have been any more accommodating. They also kept schtum for us about it, which we also really appreciate. We think this has been our best kept secret so far. It was great to get up close and personal with the old girl. She really does look sensational and they do an amazing job looking after the stock up there. Many, many measurements were taken and many, many photographs too from every conceivable angle. Even the interior was fully measured up so we can provide an accurate cab interior. We have received some queries over the weekend and endeavoured to answer them by email or on the forum, but just for the sake of completeness... Yes, we will be catering for full differences and modifications over the lifetime of the locos. This of course includes the rebuild from Crossley to GM, CAWS guards where applicable, different wipers, windscreens, buffers, side steps, roof arrangements etc etc. Yes, we will also be doing a sound chip for both GM and Crossley with ESU. There is a Crossley powered locomotive in Australia, so we are literally going to the ends of the earth for this project! Yes, they will have a proper drive system, with central can motor, twin flywheels, lots of weight and all wheel drive. No motor bogies, no clockwork etc. It will be DCC ready and will run like a champ on digitial and analogue, whichever you use and prefer. We're as excited as you to see the finished models on your layouts, and will pull out all the stops for them. They will most certainly be worth waiting for. Thanks for the support, the orders are flooding in. It's not possible to do this with out you! Cheers! Fran

Now I’m tempted! Haha

Hi Graham, its still early days in that department but will be most likely 21pin and it will be with ESU. Cheers, Fran
-
Hi Noel, A23r has the low band, while A39R and A15 have the high band. These are all taken from prototype period photos of the locos in service. Cheers! Fran
-
Thanks Trainboy, expect nothing less! We are really going to push the boat out on these as you can see in the specs and finally give the metrovicks the model they truly deserve after all these years!
-
018 will have the original windscreens and staff catchers. Cheers! Fran
-
Hi Mark, The CAWS will be plastic detail parts that will only be applicable to locomotives that carried them in each livery, so it will be added or deleted to whichever loco is suitably modelled. Cheers! Fran
-
Just to let you all know that over 20% of the entire liner run has already sold today. Thank you to everyone who placed an order both at the stand and online! Cheers, Fran
-
Two JB, lined and unlined!
-
Correct Noel, it will be possible.

Hi Graham, 029 got the air brakes. We might go full crazy and do it in the future release! Thanks for all the positive comments on the A so far. We are flat out at the show but we will work to answer your questions in the evening and over the weekend! i need my bed.... Cheers, Fran

Bump!

That’s one unpretty looking beast Noel. Are you chasing waterfalls of spirits out of the bottom or is it regulated? I guess if it’s good it means the track gets no scrubs by hand? Does the loco have to creep along with it?
-
M50 best bet George!

Well folks, we have been asked in person, emailed, lobbied and have had some oh-so subtle hints over the past couple of years about making a certain locomotive. So, we have listened, and we have decided to push ahead and do an A Class for 2019. As you can see, CAD is complete. Looks well, right? We surveyed A39r with permission of the Irish Traction Group and The Downpatrick and Co. Down Railway, both of whom were most helpful and accommodating in the development of this model. They are two fantastic groups, well worth donating to, volunteering with and visiting as they keep our railway heritage alive. The A class represents a new chapter for IRM, as we have previously supplied highly detailed rolling stock items for the Irish market, alongside our sister brand Accurascale which produces highly acclaimed British outline models. Now we are moving into locomotives and powered models. As you know by now, we like to do things to a high standard, with a high attention to detail. This continues with locomotives, with the specification of the A Class is as follows: Highly detailed OO scale model Heavy metal chassis Separately applied steel detail parts, including grab handles, steps, wipers and more NEM coupling socket at correct height Five-Pole motor with two flywheels Metal Helical Gear box for maximum performance and slow speed running Gearing arranged so locomotive can achieve a scale top speed of 130 km/h DCC ready with PowerPack capacitor for uninterrupted power Two quality speakers with large sound capsules for best possible sound Fully detailed Lighting Pack, including: Directional lighting, DC and DCC Marker lights can be turned off when train is coupled to loco high beam headlight function separately switched cab lighting and illuminated, details driver’s console Engine bay lighting RP25-110 wheels OO wheels with provision for re-gauging to 21mm gauge Rotating axlebox hubs (with alternate axlebox covers for earlier versions) Fully sprung metal buffers Extra fine factory-fitted pipework Extra fine factory-fitted plastic and etched steel detail parts Two styles of windscreens depending on era modelled/livery Both Original Crossley and rebuilt GM locos catered for Minimum Radius 438mm (2nd Radius Set-track) Length over Buffers 203mm Both the original Crossley and rebuilt GM powered locomotives will be modelled in appropriate liveries, featuring detail differences around the roof, windscreen and headlights. The finished models will be offered in a plethora of liveries, including a very limited edition special edition of class leader A1 in as delivered silver with sandboxes in a special presentation box with certificate, to Green lined, plain green, black, black with yellow panel, black and tan, supertrain, supertrain with IR logos and full IR livery, with the more popular liveries to receive multiple running numbers to allow modellers build an authentic roster of locomotives. We are working on digital sound records for both power plants, and sound chips will be sold separately closer to release. Price of each locomotive will be €189.95 per loco, with €219.95 for A1 special edition and delivery of finished models is expected Q4 2019. Orders can be placed direct on our website here and at our stand at the Raheny show this weekend. You can either pay in full today or select ‘Bank Transfer’ and pay a €50 per loco to secure your order, with the balance paid before delivery in lump or installments. Deposits can also be taken at the stand at Raheny. 2019 promises to be ‘A’ very special year, with the 42ft project delivered and A classes to come, as well as some other announcements in the new year. Keep an eye out for further updates in 2019!

We like drunk ordering, especially when there's carefree attitude to spending money!

On the four pack deal, you can have any mixture you want for the €375 price. Just add the four packs you want to your cart, and the checkout will automatically deduct the difference. Easy peasy! The five pack deal is for one of each pack (2x Bell, 2x B&I and 1 CIE) only. Cheers! Fran

Have to agree with this sentiment Dave, when you sit on this side of the ditch and you learn of the sheer level of work, detail, money and dedication required to do a model, it is only then you can fully appreciate what a herculean task it is, even if it's a humble wagon, let alone a loco with complex detail variations such as a 121. The projects are simply huge and need a large degree of practicality, and while I cannot (and would not) speak for Paddy, I'm sure he wants the project to market more than anyone. We can see that ourselves in IRM, with none of us having a day off from trains since we started, and there are four of us. Paddy is a one man band, and has a fantastic track record of locos that he has done himself. As you allude to, surprises can pop out of nowhere to delay everything (as we have seen with the Taras and our UK Cemflo wagons) and there will be seriously good reasons to explain these delays, that I have no doubt about. These kind of comments can be most discouraging sometimes, but I guess it's the modern age we live in. Thankfully we get overwhelming support from customers and we are delighted to receive it as it motivates us to keep going. Cheers, Fran

Deco samples of the C Rail containers. Tweaks required but you get the idea. See them on our stand this weekend.

Hi Chris, there will indeed. We will have it up in time for Saturday. Cheers, Fran
