Any chance of a gangway end shot Dave? Cheers.

    MM Supertrain Mk2Ds

I've ordered 3 just now to see how they are (EGV, diner and compo). From the pictures on Marks it's difficult to judge due to lighting and the fact they are in the packing but they do look like an improvement over the first batch. The black bands look straight anyway and the orange/tan look closer to what it should be. I'm fairly sure Dave Bracken will be first up with pictures.
  4. Just quick heads up that the new revised Supertrain Mk2Ds are now in stock at Marks.
  5. Yeah there was. 087 had to be sent from Connolly to haul the train back. I believe it got to Connolly just before midnight. These things happen, credit to all the volunteers and IE staff in fairness. Hope the RPSI don't get too much of a slap on the wrist for the delayed Rosslare service.
  6. As far as I know all 141/181 loco were air brake equipped as delivered. It's just air brake systems were never commissioned until the first air brake stock, the bogie bulk cement wagons were delivered in the late 70s. The shale wagons were also airbraked. As u mentioned this all led to the SA. The S was for CAWS. It was used on the main lines as well as suburban. 071s at the time with no CAWS could not operate Mk3s on the Cork line up to the locos 90mph max until their CAWS was commissioned. It was not permitted as a safety feature because of the braking distance between some signaling blocks on line of sight was not sufficient at those speeds.
  7. For multiple loco working all 5 air hoses are connected and the vac pipe. There is also an MU cable for loco control. For an air brake train just the red hose and one of the yellow hoses are connected to the train. The two green and other yollow hose are connected to the other loco in multiple to equalise the air brakes. The MM packs just give enough to detail one end plus a spare hose if you need it.
  8. The real things all have 5 air hoses and one vac pipe at each end. Only the 121s were delivered with no air brake lines but were later retrofitted.
  9. 086 has gone in for overhaul. The black and silver livery is now history.
  10. To me the shade of orange used on the MM 203 and 220 are that faded pink shade. 201 and 210 are in the vivid new painted orange shade as that is what they had while they wore the full yellow face. Only thing is that makes 203 and 220 to be weathered out of the box to look right while 201 and 210 look good as in ex works condition.
  11. €95 for a set of CIE vans, doesn't get much better. Fair play lads. I was expecting these to be maybe €140-150 a set because of the tooling variations.
  12. That's a great deal for getting all 3 sets. Very pleased with that.

    IRM Fert Wagon

    Great footage from 4:20 on.

    IRM Fert Wagon

Just a quick one about the CAD that stands out to me. Shouldn't the bogies be more recessed under the frame of the wagon, same with the brake wheel? To me they should not be flush or sit proud of the base frame of the wagon.
  15. Just wanted to ask does anyone here have any collections or links to photos of the orange bubble in service. I've only a handful and they are just the few I could find on Google and one or two posted here. Any and all will be much appreciated thanks.
  16. I'd be in the same boat guys. If IRM threw open the ordering book for a rake of 8-10 of either laminates or Park Royals I'd be all over both.
  17. Any update on their ETA Dave?
  18. Just reiterate. Even though my main period of Irish Rail modeling would be mainly from early 1980s up to the withdrawl of the Mk3s, it nicely covers a varied mix of CIE, IR and IE branded stock. I do have plenty of B&T BGMs to cover the 60s and 70s era too as I love the older setting even if well before my time. I have an IR and IE van pack ordered and if the CIE variation was put up now I'd order a set even if the CIE vans cost more than the current vans. I feel the vans are well worth it and great to have a RTR model of that quality even for the very limited market.
  19. A big yes to the CIE vans and more ballast hoppers. If there were any existing packs left in stock I'd pick up about 3 more packs of the current era. I know its a labour of love but would love some more CIE stock.
  20. Will there be just one bar per pack, or can you pick up extra to close couple a full rake?
  21. I've noticed that the old buffer stops fitted with actual buffers at Fairview DART depot have got a spruce up as of late. Instead of being finished in typical red they are are now in PWD yellow, all over even the buffer faces. Any authentic Irish style buffer stops on IRM's accessory project list?
  22. As things got tight in January 2008 as scrapping of Mk2D began in full swing. 5610-5212-5205-5211-5236-5221-5154. This was an evening Limerick service on 08/01/08 with no 54xx buffet coach as there was none free. On the 10/01/08 13.25 Limerick: 5602 5403 5102 5159 5106 5203 17.10 Athlone: 5610 5212 5205 5211 5236 5221 5154 17.50 Galway: 5607 5410 5155 5156 5152 5101 By the end of January there were only 2 sets in service and were regularly a 8 and 9 piece. 5607 5208 5219 5410 5155 5156 5152 5101 5236 this set was noted being hauled by 085 on a evening service ex Heuston.
  23. Managed to dig up bits myself in the mean time. Example below was a Belfast service in 1976 B174 + 5228,5231,5208,5406,5101,5608. In the final days of Mk2D sets below: 5602 5403 5102 5159 5106 5203 5221 (28/1/08 1750 ex Heuston) 5610 5208 5410 5155 5156 5152 5101 (30/1/08 1750 ex Heuston)
  24. Price drop to €65 for the loco and 3 wagons sold together.
  25. August going to be bust with the Taras and Ploughs landing in the same month. Hope you have the postie on standby
