I have a photo of red buffer beams on a grey livery one somewhere…I think it was 127… id like to believe there is a universe where 121s are delivered in CIE light green. I would think red buffer beams and black beneath that, maybe an eau de nil waistline too… I have run out of chat gpt attempts for today trying to make a 141 look ok in CIE 1958 green…not sure how it managed to come out as deformed as that

Basically it’s going to take so much effort to do it right, I may as well learn how to photoshop How about this for alternate history (yes it’s got handrails and the livery wouldn’t have looked like this) but it gives an idea…

The MGWR had 3 2-2-2 ST’s didn’t they? The 4th member of this class of 3 being preserved in Rio de Janeiro! the Timoleague and Courtmacsherry had “Slaney” which was the first withdrawn of there 3 locomotives did the GNR every try a saddle tank design?
-
Find it strange that more saddle tanks never came here. They weren’t unknown, (J24s, Sambo, DNGR tanks). Considering the amount of slow goods traffic and shunting that went on here. They do tend to be easier to maintain and bodge

I’m not in a position to speak in detail, but there is more steam planned this year for sure
-
Looking at how it fits over 92s boiler perfectly, and that it’s designed so that all the necessary linkages are exposed lends me to beleive it was actually custom made for the J30
-
it took like 5 prompts to chat gpt to get it to that point…..I’ve run out of my daily limit!

I forgot about that….good times….cause quite a stir back in the day nearly half a decade later, and it’s still not out! anyway I tried chat gpt earlier for livery edits, didn’t go so well! what I want to see most is an 071 in inciting green (like the livery on the mark 4s / 201s) as I saw one like this in an RSA book once the other thing I’d quite like to see is 121 /141 class in 1960s light green with eau de nil waste and

Typo! Departed to cork at 19:15. 4 trains a day all of them through services to Cork. 2 of them mixed, one passenger and one Clayton
-
Just having a read of a journal I picked up today, included a section from the 1st of July 1929, which includes Clayton railcar only working which arrived at Clonakilty at 19:03 and departed from Cork at 19:15.

Adare Station
Westcorkrailway replied to west_clare_wanderer's topic in What's happening on the network?
If you read between the lines, this station will be as temporary as “docklands” and once the darts begin to arrive in numbers they will probobly look at implementing a passenger service -
Yes that is the story the finder came to as well

I’ve seen GSWR ones found in the Youghal line!

It’s actually motorised already, it’s a mater of adjusting the chassis. But that’s a bit beyond my capabilities at the moment

Interesting Early Irish Railway photos
Westcorkrailway replied to Westcorkrailway's topic in General Chat
Well the tram lines means it’s between like, 1898 and 1931. I would hazard a guess this is towards the older end of the scale -
Would have been handy aye, there’s a tenner in it if you posted them my way?
-
There was a bit of toothbrushing and such the like to get it ready. But satin grey has bought it into its own. just get the buffer beams right and it’s a matter of maybe a bit of detailing and hopefully Dez can provide some transfers Again, very thankful for the loco! I’d never be able to get something to this standard
-
As things progress tonight on static “470” unfortunatly I have misplaced my Bandon tank transfer sheet, anyone got Dez’s new email?
-
I feel bad for eBay people, cause at Wexford show you’ll get this stuff for a good 100-200 euro below!

A rant im eagerly invested in, after our A Class Roof chat -
Latest addition sees a studio scale Models Bandon tank. This one was don’t by a member of this forum and has a thread from many years ago on here somehere in its construction Bandon tanks have 3 variants -As built -GSR rebuild -CIE retrograde (refuted with original firebox and smokebox but retain wide windows) the only loco to stay “as Built” into the 1950s was no.470. Which kept her original saturated boiler and round top firebox. The loco worked up to the end of the West Cork, being withdrawn in 1961. 470 also ventured to the DSER at one stage while plans to produce a ready to run Bandon tank for the masses is still underway, it’s always nice to have a few of them around!
