  1. God the Lima 201s drove me soft with poor running, but they could run ok with wheel cleaning and plenty of running in.I was thinking of the Model Torque remotoring option before the new Murphy 201 came out.
  2. I have just had a look back at Richies workbench and all I can say is jaw dropping work, especialy Ballyvoyle viaduct, which I seemed to have missed for ages.Keep up the good work Richie.
  3. More than likely-nothing,as those 201s are withdrawn and are used for spare parts for the rest of the 201 fleet.Class leader 201 herself is in this lot.
  4. I can't wait to get my kit.Best wishes to you and family as well Tommy, and you are welcome for a chat anytime.
  5. You did a great job on the LC kit.
  6. Some nice scenes there Tommy.I would love a closer look at the Wickham inspection car-looks great.
  7. Impressive work Sean, and great job on the beer cages.
  8. I hope this might be of use to anyone who has the Hornby Deltic chassis that has been cut and shut for a Silverfox 001 class or SSM B101 loco. The main problem when the chassis is lack of traction. The motor is a nice runner even at slow speeds, and is priced nice at 36stl from hattons. However struggles for traction even with a fair amount of weight included. I saw a 001 class on Gerrys Ballybeg and saw considerable improvement when these marklin tires are installed. The bottom of the bogie is opened by using small screw driver to push back tabs either end of bogie, which lifts off showing wheels. Its essential that the wheels are put back as they came off as this will cause a short if put back wrong. I left the original tire on,and I have not been able to test my own a39 as my layout needs some track repairs. The only place I have seen these tires for sale is on ebay.
  9. One thing for sure dial up is not missed. I remember the excitement of the old msn site and Just to see that I was not the only one mad into irish model railways.
  10. I remember back to that time around 2005 as I bought two MIR 121 kits and having no Internet, and knew no one as regards advice for chassis for locos etc and it's only I think around 2006 with the old MSM site that things improved, and come to think of it the old dial up connection was fun,but least there was a connection with other Irish model railway people who could help with advice, and the impending Murphy 141/181 in late 2007 (I think)seemed to explode the Irish scene.
  11. I should have kept the viaduct alright, and should have rebuilt around it,but have to restart work on the current layout in the new year.
  12. I just spotted some old photos that were posted on some of the old sites and show my Irish stock at the time as well as some old layouts that have come and gone-
  13. Ye have seen my renumbered 071 black and silver renumbered to 073,plus I have ordered a SF MK 3 PP resin kit from DC kits, but won't get this till next week.
  14. I am reading the book today between building Lego Halo, and Doc mcstuffins stuff, and the book is wonderful and well worth having in your bookshelf.
  15. I thought there was a passing loop just south of the Station that had only recently been built-I am open to correction on that, but a passing loop I am nearly sure is there.
  16. Welcome to the site Diarmuid, and Happy Christmas to you
  17. Lovely photos Noel. And will you be needing a helping hand from the Enniscorthy ballast hauled by 073 on Tara junction in the new year?.
  18. I am one of the early MSM gang as well and its wonderful To see 500th member.
  19. Nah,I would have had a pony tail.lol.
  20. Very happy with her Noel, and I seem to have great affection for 073.I will have to get a sound chip for her as well.
