  1. Just finished the detailing on ballast wagon, and delighted with results. looks far better with proper pipes and hand wheels, and although tricky to get the brass wire along the body side and rejoin on the bend area. Now only 11 more wagons to go!. And two wagons together showing before and after.
  2. Thanks Tom,It was always my intention to detail my ballast train, and the pipes along the body side and the brake pipes are next on the list.I have 12 ballast wagons to detail and then the plough vans will get some work on them.
  3. Great story alright.I have a photo of that mock up cab in Inchicore works-will have a look for it later.I wonder where it is now.
  4. You can get a can of orange spray made up at halfords, code is Ral 2011.
  5. Stunning job on the tin van George.
  6. I got them Sean in that model shop on Capel Street in Dublin. I cant remember the name or make of it,but it gave you the option of different sizes. Most people will tell you that its better to mask off with tape to get a better white stripe, but I went the lazy way:)
  7. The workbench is getting busy now with more stuff in the post this week. I put some pinpoint brass bearings on the ballast wagon and stuck on the hand wheel at the sides. I got this nice single track LC kit from Irish Freight models.
  8. Sorry Sean<I only saw your question now.No airbrush used, all hand painted with MIR 201 orange and the white stripe is from a peel off sheet.
  9. Noel told me that a H and S team had checked the depot last year and all is well - Barry is doing a great job. The two gray 071s look nice side by side.
  10. Brilliant Idea Richie,no end to your talents.
  11. She looks stunning alright George, great work.
  12. Great information lads on the alternatives for a good running A class.
  13. They are a nice and handy to make, although some brass parts are small and hard to handle, but nothing a few curses won't sort.
  14. It's up to yourself Sean,a rtr would be handy as the Silver Fox MK 3 EGV is top notch from what I have seen. The kit would be more of a long term project when you consider the time taken with cutting, painting etc. If the SF EGVs were around when I was looking at them I know the rtr would have been my option.
  15. Brass sides, roof detail parts. Most people use a MK3 sleeper coach as a doner.I used a spare Hornby MK3 Res coach. To be honest its a difficult build as a lot of cutting is required, but taking your time and its possible.
  16. Sean if you check page one of my work bench you will see some photos a bit down on the page of my SSM brass overlay that I did.
  17. Wow is all I can say George, and lovely detail.
  18. Nice work Des,more power to your elbow.
  19. It's nice alright and I wish It was mine. I bet the real A39 does not have this problem with traction.
  20. I got some goodies from Des in the post today,so these should keep me out of Divilment for a while. Fair play to des for such great kits. I have 5 oil tankers and got the brass detail kit for them. The Wickham Inspection car is the one I am looking forward to most.
