I have been meaning to ask this question for ages as the first photo
shows my Grandfather John Redmond engine driver on the right,in Ferns
Station sometime in the 1920s,while the second photo shows him at Bray
loco shed where he was based-he is in the middle of the front three guys,
I think someone put a x over him, while the guy at the rear with a x over
him is supposed to be from Enniscorthy.
I know nothing about Irish Steam locos and would love to know what
sort of loco is that in Ferns Station?and is it the same as the loco at
Bray Station. And if anyone can identify the loco,is there a close model.
And now everyone knows where my obsession with Irish railways comes from.
John Redmond died in 1929 when my Dad was three. From what I have been told
his normal run was to Enniscorthy from Bray.It was in the local Railway Hotel
while having spuds one day that he met my Grandmother-the rest is history.
Thanks.
Eamonn.
