  1. No word on the Weedsprayer operation yet.
  2. Well done Tom-very realistic-and impressive...
  3. Looks great Tommy,112 fits in well with the rest of your locos, well done.
  4. Well done Brian they look superb, I'll take one of each when you get them-thanks.
  5. It's possible that there is an arrangement in place for the locos off the Tara to be fuelled at Drogheda depot in the event of those possessions, But for the liner/timber movements any loco is fuelled at Inchicore before it works the IWT liner, while a swap is normally done at Kildare with the ex Waterford timber or DFDS loco with the freshly fuelled loco heading West and the other loco going straight to the running shed at Inchicore for a service which includes fuelling.
  6. And after that serious accident CIE tightened up on when and where and how much fuel was put into locomotives,Loco depots or fuelling points around the system had to telephone CTC every day with the loco number and the time and amount of fuel that was put into the locomotive(s) with IE tightening up much more nowadays with only Inchicore,Connolly,Cork and Limerick fuelling locomotives now.... Even the Mk2/Mk3 gen vans and BR/Dutch steam heating vans were also reported and recorded.
  7. A masterclass in model making from an excellent model builder.....well done Richie an excellent job on the brake van....
  8. Does any one know when a loco is stabled is it shut down or left idling as in the old days?. Gareth,Any locos that arrive off IWT,DFDS or timber trains in either Ballina or Westport are shutdown when the loco runs around its train, However on a few occasions a loco has been left running overnight if it had a previous history of failing to start the following morning,220,224,075 and 088 all come to mind..
  9. Here's a modern day LED type ground shunt signal, In this case only one route is operational this being the vertical two white lights, while there are two other routes available they are not used
  10. Thanks Richie-the timber wagons are from the german company PIKO and while not exactly to the scale length of the prototype they are the best ready to run timber wagons on the market with a few minor modifications like bulkhead ladders and steps at one end of each wagon.
  11. It sure was Eamonn-and many thanks must also go to yourself and Gerry and Anthony for all the helpful advice on the installation and operation of DCC-which is great fun, Here is a short video of sound fitted 077 working an empty timber train while 080 hauls the Mk2 air braked set through the washing plant at slow speed....
  12. Excellent work there Anthony, well done.
  13. Afternoon lads, few photos of this mornings rush hour on Tara junctions high street, CIE D class Atlantean double decker waits at the sharp corner for Dublin bound expressway M14 to pass. An aerial view of the rush hour sees a variety of CIE buses including the M,D,KD,C and SS negotiate the high street traffic. Another D class Atlantean double decker pulls into the bus stop to pick up just a few passengers while another D class heads for the terminus further up the street with a long version SS class school bus close behind.
  14. Afternoon lads,a few photos from this mornings operations on the layout, 077 gets an exam done before going light engine to work the timber train later, while 29001 comes off the branch with a morning commuter service. The morning up Waterford push/pull-6101+220 overtakes the Arrow-2601+2602 which is operating a local service, while 080 hauls the up Athlone Mk2 a/b set not far from its destination, The 29000 railcar works back to Tara Jctn station to form another service back. Monday morning rush hour on the high street, beneath the street is from left 220+P/P-6101,209+Enterprise-9001,087+Mk3s and 222+Mk4 set 4001-await their next turn of duty.
  15. Many thanks lads,I've just noticed that I started this thread exactly one year ago today, Thank you to all who have replied to Tara junction , Since last year the layout is now DCC controlled with 10 sound fitted locomotives and a sound fitted excellent Viessmann tamper, But the highlight for me is the 071s and of course the excellent Enterprise coaches by D+M models, Here's to the next year
  16. Yes,the signal on the left, they would be perfect for any Irish layout.
  17. Seamus,Gareth and Mark, Good work so far,I would buy both buildings I particularly like Carlow station building, But for a future releases I would like to see (1)-The old Achill waiting room which is situated on the down platform at Westport station (2)-Claremorris signal cabin-(which had one of the largest lever frames in the country at 66 levers) (3)-Westport signal cabin, (4)-The two road engine shed at Westport- station (without the recently blocked up windows)
  18. Evening lads, After months of trying I finally managed to get an Autoballaster wagon to discharge some ballast... Here is new liveried 92-60-011077-2 working at slow speed with generator wagon 52001 discharging ballast under the watchful eye of the permanent way team....with DTS tamper 751 waiting to crossover to tamp and line the newly ballasted track, The HOBS train discharging ballast on the up fast line hauled by 077 Tamper 751 waits for the call to tamp and line the track. 077 and the HOBS. HOBS generator van 52001 at work. The chief civil engineer is suitably impressed with the operation of the HOBS train....
  19. Welcome back Amiens street and well done Stephen,Seamus done a great job on 078,looks well on the wagon transfer, The urban scene looks well.
  20. Well done Kieran, like myself you have a layout to be proud of and get hours of fun out of-it was a quick year-but one that you have achieved quite a bit, keep up the good work...
  21. That's another loco to the list,076,078 and 086, Good find Railer.
