Thanks Richie-the timber wagons are from the german company PIKO and while not exactly to the scale length of the prototype they are the best ready to run timber wagons on the market with a few minor modifications like bulkhead ladders and steps at one end of each wagon.

It sure was Eamonn-and many thanks must also go to yourself and Gerry and Anthony for all the helpful advice on the installation and operation of DCC-which is great fun, Here is a short video of sound fitted 077 working an empty timber train while 080 hauls the Mk2 air braked set through the washing plant at slow speed....

Excellent work there Anthony,well done.

Afternoon lads, few photos of this mornings rush hour on Tara junctions high street, CIE D class Atlantean double decker waits at the sharp corner for Dublin bound expressway M14 to pass. An aerial view of the rush hour sees a variety of CIE buses including the M,D,KD,C and SS negotiate the high street traffic. Another D class Atlantean double decker pulls into the bus stop to pick up just a few passengers while another D class heads for the terminus further up the street with a long version SS class school bus close behind.

Many thanks lads,I've just noticed that I started this thread exactly one year ago today, Thank you to all who have replied to Tara junction , Since last year the layout is now DCC controlled with 10 sound fitted locomotives and a sound fitted excellent Viessmann tamper, But the highlight for me is the 071s and of course the excellent Enterprise coaches by D+M models, Here's to the next year

Yes,the signal on the left, they would be perfect for any Irish layout.

Irish Model Buildings for 2014 - Feedback Needed
ttc0169 replied to The Train Man's topic in Irish Models
Seamus,Gareth and Mark, Good work so far,I would buy both buildings I particularly like Carlow station building, But for a future releases I would like to see (1)-The old Achill waiting room which is situated on the down platform at Westport station (2)-Claremorris signal cabin-(which had one of the largest lever frames in the country at 66 levers) (3)-Westport signal cabin, (4)-The two road engine shed at Westport- station (without the recently blocked up windows) -
Evening lads, After months of trying I finally managed to get an Autoballaster wagon to discharge some ballast... Here is new liveried 92-60-011077-2 working at slow speed with generator wagon 52001 discharging ballast under the watchful eye of the permanent way team....with DTS tamper 751 waiting to crossover to tamp and line the newly ballasted track, The HOBS train discharging ballast on the up fast line hauled by 077 Tamper 751 waits for the call to tamp and line the track. 077 and the HOBS. HOBS generator van 52001 at work. The chief civil engineer is suitably impressed with the operation of the HOBS train....

Great picture there Noel where would the signal box have been situated in that photo. What was throwing me off was I've been looking at photos of Ballina with its one platform. Would both platforms be the same length or one short one long The signal box is located on the loop platform to the right of the footbridge-and before the platform extentions took place as part of the Mini CTC-both platforms were about 90m in length, Check out page 103 of"Rails to the West"for a photo of the former down platform and footbridge at Ballina taken in 1974-before it was remodelled the following year.
