  10. Best of luck with this new project Gerry, Having only visited the real Llangollen railway last weekend for the first time, you certainly captured the place very well in miniature form,so I have no doubt your new layout will be much the same standard. .
  11. Coach is fitted with a Guards emergency brake valve-a compartment at one end of a Cravens coach which could be accessed via a carriage key and contained a brake valve and a vacuum brake dial, A Guard could start train from that coach if it was the rearmost vehicle in the formation, and conduct a brake continuity test, 1558 was one of two coaches fitted with this apparatus and was generally allocated to the Limerick-Linerick Jctn shuttle until replaced by railcars, We then had that coach for a number of years on the Ballina branch train until withdrawal. I remember taking a photo of the compartment I must try and dig it out.
  12. A May 2009 view of loco 162 about to be turned on the table.
  13. Over the last few months the turntable at Claremorris station has been refurbished by the local permanent way staff, The work involved power washing the well area and improving drainage around the area and replacing some broken crossbeam timbers on the table, The siding which gives access to the turntable has been renewed with 2nd hand concrete sleepers and a second hand buffer stop originally from Ballina being used at the Manulla end of the table. It's a credit to the staff involved in the project to see such a fine job on such an historical piece of infrastructure.
  14. Thanks Stephen... To celebrate 40 years of the 071 class locomotives in Ireland the general manager of the MPD arranged a line up of some of the 071 class liveries down through the years' date='including a visit from NIR 112, Sadly 080 in IR livery was unable to make it as it had failed before departure from the Western road MPD.
