  1. Its from 1931, it was given to me about 10 years ago. It has been used small bit cut of the side. I ll have a look for it later and i ll post up a pic of it
  2. Reminds me of the GWR signage from the early 20th century, back then there was two ways of getting to Killarney by train from the uk, one via Cork on the Prince of Wales route and the second via Rosslare. There was a special from Paddington on a Friday evening, that would give you a full day in Killarney and get you back to London in time for work on monday morning. I have the final traffic book of New Ross Station which i was given in 1997 when the station building got knocked down, i ve also got a West cork milepost, a fixed signal off the Dungarvan line and a passenger ticket from the Macroom line. On the West Cork line milepost, i ve seen knock off examples which it wouldn t take an expert to figure out there not genuine.
  3. The main answer is for the safety of the Gardai who were examining the scene, the accident happened during darkness so very little examination could happen for the first few hours. My thoughts and prayers go out to the driver and the girls family.
  4. The Waterford ones are all still there, excavator on the truck has moved to outside the gate.
  5. Man it gets better on each new project, can t wait to see that weedsprayer when its finished. Inspirational stuff Rich well done
  6. Looking good Gareth:tumbsup:
  7. Well the time has come, the pro box met our 3 year old so a new system is in order, i' m 99% sure its the Nce powercab i ll be going with. I ve a few questions before i make the move don t want to jump in with both feet like the select and dynamsis. 1. If i buy the basic set, is it a matter of buying the 5 amp power transformer or do i have to get the full 5 amp pack. 2. Any problems? I m not interested in controlling points or signalling had enough trouble getting my head around doing it with dc plus it ll have enough to deal with the 30 plus loco fleet and a rather large 5m x 4m layout. 3. Can you get power boosters 4. Existing chips MM, lenz gold and bachmann will they be ok? 5. Can it receive upgrades etc like the hornby elite etc
  8. Oh, don t i know that feeling it stared with "ah, i ll get one or two" now i have 5 with another 3 on order:facepalm: man its like the baby gm's all over again.

  10. I think 086 was the last to get the orange livery if that helps, some looked really dirty and tatty around the mid 00's. Either way i look forward to seeing some of the renumbered 071's.

  14. As far as i know they did have them, the nearest i ve come to prove is this bell liner 2nd wagon after the loco, i think Mr Mayner took it http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff277/majral/Wagon%20s/CorkWaterfordBellLiner.jpg http://www.irishships.com/images/Bell%20Lines/Paddy%20Roche/DSCF1962.JPG http://www.irishships.com/images/Bell%20Lines/Bell%20Pioneer.jpg

  16. Anto posted up updated pics of the suir bridge, give us a shout if you need more. http://www.irishrailwaymodeller.com/showthread.php/2013-A-walk-to-Dungarvan
  17. Main supports which are directly under the running rails, From the right hand side there are metal cradles in which the sleepers sit, one empty, one sleeper, along with spacers that connect each one in groups of 2 to 3. Each one seemed to be filled with tarmacadam at some stage to the edge of the sleeper or the safety rail. Yes, that is water below thank god for the auld safety harness. The safety rail is attached to the frame by these monsters every few feet The safety rail and right hand rail incidentally the bolts say 1977 whereas the plates on the sleepers are dated 1901 to 1911. The bolts to the left of the right hand rail are ties through the sleepers to the crossbeams Left hand side running rail to the left hand side of the bridge The scar's from a crash in 1945 are still visible at the Waterford side of the bridge
  18. Anto, theres usually a guard rail on the outside of the rail on both sides, the floor of the bridge is usually metal plating with beams running under the track bed for support, if you like i could get more detailed pics of the suir viaduct as i ll be in the area later on.
