Far more important than what happened on the same day in Tienanmen Square, Beijing....

Not a surprise. The real profit in IRM comes for those who snap the new stock up and then flip it on for twice or three times the RRP.

Irish Railway Models A Class Re-wheeled to 21mm
Horsetan replied to JohnMcGahern's topic in Irish Models
Since completing this re-gauge, I have acquired another pack of Accurascale's P4 Deltic wheels for the princely sum of eight quid. Just need to find another A class..... -
Especially as it's MTK.... Anyone who remembers MTK will likely remember the man behind it: Colin Massingham. Colin's been dead for years. It was often said that he allegedly never consulted an engineering drawing when preparing a new model for production, but just looked at a few photographs and guesstimated from there. If you were (un)lucky enough to encounter one of his early Steamcast kits for BR Standard engines, you'll know what I mean. In later years, Colin himself alluded to his idiosyncratic planning methods by releasing O-gauge kits under the brand name "Elcrappo".

He's not alone. I signed up for the IRM RPSI Mk2 set when it was announced, but can't find any trace of a record or acknowledgement.

I see Joe Brolly doing his bit for international relations!

Y'know, I keep thinking that I should make time to do a bit more work on my Mitchell kit "Manor" - it has taken long enough.....

That's a great shame, as the engine would otherwise be a decent fit for the Downpatrick line. She hasn't worked for over 50 years.

By phone? That's an inside line most of us don't have!

Either the camera lens is going mad, or there's something weird about the top line of the smokebox....

You might want to send him another e-mail, just in case.....

Action reminds me of the DAF Variomatic transmission......

It's probably a pixellated registration plate from some road traffic offence....

I have had a reply! It seems he is preparing a new batch of the GSR 800 kits, so the potential customers that I referred to Des could end up happy. He confirmed he had received their e-mail separately and had replied to them individually.

Would you model in 21mm if RTR track and models were readily available?
Horsetan replied to BosKonay's topic in Irish Models
I'm not sure there were a limited number of prototypes. If Irish locomotive history tells us anything, it is that there were a great many locomotive classes, albeit many (most?) only containing single figures. -

This one looks quite desolate! -
That's instantly ruined any straight swap prospects
-
The method of mounting to the underframe may be different to MM's method, so might not be a straightforward swap even without the lighting equipment.

They are not insulated. I'll worry about lighting when I come to it.

I think I'm in the wrong job!

I have his list. There's 12.6 or 14mm. Might have to look elsewhere....

I've been messing in it since about 1988. The emphasis is on messing.
