  1. I new the sliverfox A's would come in handy .
  2. well done nice layout
  3. Possibly a bit late but found this by Jonathan Allen on his Flickr of 3205TL seems to be missing the cover for the boiler but gives a interesting layout of the pipework
  4. Don’t think the G class hauled that many passengers even when they were in service on some of the branch lines .
  5. this is what the Union Pacific have done
  6. It would be nice to if IE would do a few of the 071s in a 'fallen flags' scheme for example one in DSER livery with the company logo a dates of existence another in MGWR , GNR and so on all the companies that made up CIE and would provide a historical link to the history of the railway.
  7. Looks great just need the Guard to fit the tailpiece and its ready to go .
  8. One such piece is as follows RAILWAY STUFF I WAS WATCHING the goods the other evening making its way to Wexford, rather like an old buffer of 89 en route to the post office for his pension. Could we not erect some ironical memorial in tortured steel to the wretched man who 'designed' the under-boilered, over-cylindered atrocity that was yanking and bashing those trucks? When younger and less wise I wrote to the former Dublin South-Eastern Railway outlining a modest proposal for fitting their locomotives with thermic syphons. This device protects the crown sheet and, of course, considerably advances the effective heating surface. 'Dear Sir-The General Manager directs me to state that the enclosed diagrams, which bear your name, have been found in this office and are returned herewith. Please note that this Company cannot accept responsibility for such documents.' Heigh-ho for power-operated fire-doors, mechanical stokers and a300 Ibs steam pressure. I heard of a high-up railway technician who was, appropriately enough, killed at a level crossing by one of his own 'trains'. He thought the train was past because he saw its tracks. Bah!
  9. Even nicer with a B&T/Supertrain A class and some oil wagons too hint hint
  10. As a lifelong fan of Flann O'Brien /Myles NaGcopleen and someone with an interest in Railways you only have to read some of his stuff about the railways to realise this was someone with slightly more than a lay persons knowledge of the railway and the working of steam locomotives .
  11. A lot of work goes into something like that but it show's in the final result. Well done .
  12. I think that's beyond the scope of the technical brilliance of many on this forum, but come to mention it when hearing the hi pitched whine of the Accurascale Deltic on you tube it did sound uncannily like my ex wife .
  13. Now that's the $64 million dollar question
  14. Oh yes but not as of yet available in IR/IE livery ...............................
  15. Yes I have done this too but also reverse the B4 bogie they are the wrong way around on the original model.
  16. A crowd called Replica Railways do a very nice detailed B4 bogie Accessories (replicarailways.co.uk)
  17. What ones are you looking for Mk2a or Mk2b do you want to covert them IE /NIR, here is a Lima Mk2b FK ideal for IE 4109,4401 & 4402 and not to expensive. An ideal coach to experiment with. Lima L305301-PO86 Mk 2B FK first corridor W13493 in BR blue/grey - (hattons.co.uk) And here is a great article about up grading the humble Lima Mk2. Lima Mk2 Improvements - Model Railways On-Line (mrol.com.au)
  18. Is there any markings on them Eoin?
  19. I thought for a moment you were going to melt them down and build O guage 800 class locos out of them .
  20. The best MK2a FK were the ones done by Bachmann, the Mk2b FK were done by Lima are ok a bit dated but you can pick them up easy enough.
  21. Not wanting to go off in tangents or be too pedantic but worth pointing out as far as I'm aware that 4101,4102 and 4110 as built were Mk2a, 4108 was a Mk2 as built , the main visual difference being the Gangway on the Mk2 was the same as the BR MK1 , the Mk2a had the bi folding door, this would be changed on the Mk2 over time so by the time it came into IE ownership it was a MK2a. The other difference being Mk2 was Vacuum Braked later converted to Air Brakes.
  22. I think the rebuilt Dutch van (EGV) would be difficult, the ex MK2b Fk , Mk2c FO are more likely the only difference with the BR / NIR versions is the interiors and the blanked over windows on 4401 & 4402 .
