I booked to go to Model rail Scotland this Friday by Ryanair a few weeks back €33.38 Return , checked a day return to Belfast on 23rd April and best price is €35.98
Hopefully there will be lots of announcements in 2022 but my gut feeling is it wont be 141/181 as has been pointed out the minimum production run would be at least 5000 unit plus and while some people would buy lots most people wouldn't buy that many(I have six from the 2009 run)so I might buy one or two , I think anyone doing a loco would do one that is hitting a fresh untouched market like the 121 or the A class that would guarantee good sales . At the end of the day its all about sales while some seem to think 141/181 would sell like hot cakes yes they certainly would to anyone who missed out or new entrants to the hobby but established modellers may not buy in sufficient numbers to justify 5000+ which have to be paid for up front .
My own personal wish would be a C/B201 class which had a number of versions and liveries including a NIR version which would sell well as no RTR has been done of it up to now .
Great videos , I also went for the2 x iPhone speakers as they were relatively inexpensive per unit and were very easy to fit without having to carry out too many modifications to the loco .
Like yourself did a little research and I recently took the plunge with a NCE powercab(everything you need is in the box ) and fitted one of my 121 class and an A class with sound chips and I was blown away ! The MM141/181 require a speaker to be fitted but not that difficult either to do .
Conscious of not wanting to go too far of topic below is a picture from left of J M Designs pre 1953 covered van , Provincial Wagons post 1953 covered van and last Provincial Wagons post 1953 covered van but ‘fitted’ brake blocks on all wheels and round hand brake wheel as they would look running with Vacuum brakes .
I certainly will be ordering a LMA van or Two for variety whn they are available.
I am also discovering some wonderful gems in that IRRS flickr site there is fabulous one of a H van 18828 in green with Vacuum brakes with sliding doors by Gerard McGowan , which like you I had read about but never seen picture of one . Many thanks to Ciaran Cooney of the IRRS for painstakingly taking the time to scan these pictures , while some of them are just ordinary rolling stock photos and would not appeal to many they provide a wealth of information for the modeller .
My five sets of 2 x iPhone speakers duly arrived and fitted one to MM182 along with a GM 645 sound chip sounded a little loud when compared to my MM126 so I turned it down a little .
Great news they will look great with supertrain and Black and Tan locos I will be participating.
They will look even better in a mixed set with CIE oil wagons which is the way they operated , hint hint nudge nudge …………….
