  1. I'm waiting to see the National Treasury Management Agency buying A classes at this rate !
  2. Looks fabulous unfortunately I only do Irish but hopefully this is giving you practice at doing 4-6-0 locomotives......................................
  3. I dont agree its a free market if someone wants to sell a loco a whatever price they want good luck to them and if somebody wants to pay it good luck to them too . I recently sold some locos to a new member here at a reasonable price and was glad to help somebody out coming into the hobby but that was my choice . Thats the beauty of the free market . As the this thread title suggests buy the A class now at a good price .
  4. Which Chip is that ?
  5. 007 looks great cant understand why its such a slow seller compared to its stable mates ?
  6. 202 was involved in a collision with BGM 182 in the late 90’’s 182 had a buffer replaced and 202 had front end damage resulting in a repair and repaint at one end.
  7. Well when my time comes to shuffle off this mortal coil my A class will be coming in the big box with me !

  9. I too am so grateful for the number I have but the A class were the biggest fleet of diesel locos on the railway numbering 60, so for anyone modeling the 1970's /80s's they are a intergal part of the scene .We are very lucky to have such a high quality models available and like you I have been waiting my modelling life for them .
  10. Going through my small A class fleet I have CIE 018 ,CIE 027s, IR007s and IR056 the latter being the same , I decided to take the plunge a change IR007s to CIE007 this fits the early 1983/84 snatchers removed and CAWS fitted but no 'S' prefix.
  11. Lets hope so as they will be running out of room in Inchicore to store all these mistakes !!!
  12. I don't think Kildare, Protarlington and Athy were served with bagged cement but bagged cement would have certainly passed through on occasion. The bagged cement ran to Wexford towards the late 1990's early 2000's from Waterford arriving from Dublin North wall as part of the nightly liner . Places like Cork . Ennis,Clonmel ,Thurles receiving bagged cement trains up to the early 2000's.
  13. Here is a B&W of one of the later Heating Vans with inward opening doors in green

  23. For those of you who have access to the IRRS photos on Flickr there is a great picture of 18828 a CIE H van one of the 18762-18861 batch built 1958 , 18828 was one of 15 fitted with vacuum brakes 1961/62 and pressed steel ends and sliding doors , a forerunner of the 1964 introduced Palvans 26000 but the dimenions are more similar to the standard H van , the 18762 series were painted green with flying snail black ends for their use on passanger trains , eventually they would be painted standard grey.
  24. I dont know the dimensions but they were certainly higher
