  1. While we have discussed many times the feasibility of doing GSV both Dutch and BR versions I wonder would there be a market for doing one in DCC with sound and lights both tail and interior one’s working, this would be in the price range reflected in what it is .
  2. The Park Royal’s share the same 61’6” underframe and commonwealth bogies as the 2419-2422 Buffet Cars unfortunately the numbers required to produce such a model may not be there to make a one off viable.
  3. Another option https://catalogue.nli.ie/Record/vtls000306739
  4. Originally they would have run with ordinary brake vans and tin vans with steam locomotives providing heat pre 1963 , they would have run with four wheel and six wheel heating vans in the diesel era then Dutch vans and BR Mk 1 vans and 32xx BGSV vans providing heat and power for TL fitted coaches . By the early 1980’s pretty much all the Park Royal’s would have been converted from Battery / Dynamo lighting to TL with 220v power.
  5. No they were banned from the lines with 90mph running due to their construction from the mid eighties so they would not have been in Kildare on revenue earning services. Not to jump to conclusions but this underframe and bogies were also shared on the laminates and other coaches like parcel vans and buffet cars so the future is very bright indeed …………..
  6. Secondary services Outer Dublin suburban, Cork-Cobh , Limerick-Rosslare, Limerick-Ballybrophy and Ballina Branch .
  7. Glad to see IRM doing Park Royal’s as their next or project .
  8. Great choice plenty of variants and liveries and a huge gap in the rolling stock range for anyone covering the Irish scene from 1950’s to 1990’s.
  9. Yes nice that everyone has a different opinion and can express it
  10. Yes your correct the model is PDR1A1 Metsec/ CIE H74D or D car the model is D602 which was built at Spa road by Van Hool McArdle , CIE built D1-D521/23 , VHM built D522-554/524 , 555-602 in 1973 , D602 was the last Metsec CIE D , VHM then built the AN68 D603/604 - 840 1974 on .
  11. Yes they are tad expensive but having purchased one of the earlier D class buses all I can say is they are a stunning model they are limited production runs hence the price they and come in a presentation box too.
  12. Hopefully IRM will eventually release B4 and B5 bogies in a 5’3” version as an accessory the same as the ones they are using on their forthcoming Mk2b/c’s .
  13. Perhaps Shawplan for wipers Phillip Shawplan - Fittings
  14. My 203 was the same arrived today thanks IRM
  15. Roses are red violets are blue if you buy any more railway models your wife is likely to divorce you.
  16. The Park Royal coaches would be a great one to do as they span the period 1955 to 1990 with many liveries Silver , Green , Black and tan and IR B&T with two white stripes , also many variants Suburban, mainline , Guard/ brake, Snack car etc
  17. The age old adage applies “if something sounds to good to be true it probably is “
  18. There were two of those Inchicore built full firsts 1145,1146 built 1964 the second on 1146 was destroyed in a terrorist incident in Belfast in 1979 ?
  19. The coaches I think you are looking at are possibly cafeteria car 2412, full first 1145 and BR MK 1 GSV , in fact this footage is dated June 1980 , sadly both these coaches possibly the set in the film were involved in the Buttervant accident on Aug 1980 sadly in which 2412 and 1145 were completely destroyed
  20. Prior to the mid eighties Craven coaches always ran mixed with other coaching stock with the cravens normally marshalled together within that formation . This picture by Jonathan Allen from flicker illustrates the point a very typical train containing two cravens to the rear of the train with various other coaching stock mixed in . The make up of the train is behind the loco is(open to correction ) a Park royal ,a 1356-1371 std open , a 1429-1448 laminate , a 1904-1908 brake standard , 2 Cravens , a 24xx buffet car and a Dutch van 3157-3166 steam heating/gen van at the rear. The two cravens and the Buffet Car are most likely TL (220v supply ) coaches and necessitate being marshalled next to the Dutch van while the older coaches towards the front are possibly battery dynamo powered systems .
  21. Very sad news , may he rest in peace .
  22. That's why I included a picture of a fairly clean 214 in my reply to show the roof colour as they say "A picture is worth a thousand words" .
  23. I find Jonathan Allen's Flicker page a great resource for that era Great roof detail in this shot
