  1. With the complicated throat entrance and shunting possibilities from the various storage roads, how many simultaneous trains are you expecting to have running?
  2. That's the spirit Bosko! Tackle a job that looks like you need a hape of letters after your name to understand!
  3. Sounds like someone stirring the pot is all. Wouldn't give it any oxegen.
  4. She's really grown up, wouldnt look wrong in a bachmann box.
  5. Lovely work Phil. Borrowing things from work is most useful I find for this modelling lark! looking forward to seeing them clad in corrugated sheet and plenty muck and rust. Richie.
  6. Don't think so. These are the stat's for the site. Out of the 36,976 posts on this forum, 11,530 are directly related to Irish Railway Modelling, highlighted in blue. Out of the 36,976 posts on this forum, 3,910 are related to buses etc. just less than 12% of the site, so you can allay any fears that the forum might be suddenly flooded with "doll's houses".
  7. Yeah, I did start off strictly from 121 onwards, particularly with the huge range of freight modelling possibilities around the later eighties/early nineties. The further I go down the rabbithole of this hobby though, the more I'm attracted to the late 30's era of State Coaches, Maroon and Gold lined carraiges north and south, and the bizarre range of and age of some of the wagons hauled by steam. I do have a blind spot for Metroviks for some reason, but perhaps that will change. The longevity of rolling stock and locos generally mean it's acceptable to have a thirty odd year lifespan on a layout without looking odd. R
  8. Lol, looking forward to it! If it's anything like Mallard's previous "form" I am practising my stunned face. Me two poor bristol beaufighters may slip quietly into the night. Richie.
  9. Funniest bunch of posts in a long while A4, gave me a good chuckle. "No" I think is the answer to most questions though...
  10. Was this Carlisle by any chance?
  11. I see it as "modelling the railways in ireland" be they north or south. If you're happy here, throw out whatever floats your boat, hoover diesels, chesapeake railroad, the ding-dong in Jaipuur, or Baby Gm's in BallyGoBroke. There will be someone here that has an interest. R.
  12. Why do I get the feeling it was on the bray/greystones Dart line, something like Dun Laoighre? Don't know why, just a vibe....?
  13. This is the playback of the flight paths for anyone interested, beginning with EIN2013. Takes a few seconds to buffer first. http://www.flightradar24.com/2013-09-15/12:45/12x/53.39,-6.21/11 R
  14. Joe there are a few here that are members that don't post too much who I know have 1:200 collections, and I, along with them would love to see them. Especially any early makes of 747! R
  15. Yeah great shots as always wanderer, particularly the flying fortress ones . From what I hear from one of the pilots (a skytrucker) on the day, it far and above exceeded expectations in terms of turnout, atmosphere, and crowd stamina, for what is little more than looking up at the sky and waiting. At least that's what they had thought. Plus over half of the world's aviation fleet is managed from Ireland, so apparently a lot of greasy handshaking was done also, chances are, it will be back, perhaps rolled in with the Docklands Festival. R
  16. Chevron, Welcome aboard and thanks for the kind words re the tips & tricks post. It needs updating, it's a while since I added anything like "Make and Do with a BIC biro ink column"* The first thing I'd say about this is print out what the lads have said above, handy to read should inspiration flag a bit! Second is not to worry about stock, buildings and the landscaping stuff yet. The layout itself is the important bit. Get your boards made up, and get the plan you like printed off at full scale and lay it out on the board. Then you'll see the operational possibilities and restrictions of it. Once you're happy then you can think about getting track sorted. You'll have that part of the layout the longest, so it's key to get that right. To butcher a well known phrase, "Lay track in haste, repent at leisure". While you're laying track, wiring and ballasting, you can be thinking of where to go next, just keep us posted *CIE semaphore signal columns, modern buffer shafts, building chimney pots etc.... Richie
  17. Superb stuff altogether! WE're in a for a treat here I think! Richie.
  18. It was a cracker of a show. Going down Buckingham Street toward Connolly and there's an A320 banking out of the clouds over Connolly. Mind blowing. Got home in time to see an A340 and the beast A380. Ryanair had "You'll never beat the irish" written on the underbelly, got a good laugh from the crowd. R.
  19. Kieran, I have a few SSM signals assembled, they even have working motion and weights. They're all ours if you want them
  20. Please say it's the Silver Princess Coach, might redeem my miserable score in this thread..... Richie.
  21. The 071 got a bit compressed in the ad, dave? looks more like 141's even smaller brother!R
  22. 01 - Templemore? 02 - Attymon? Dromkeen? 03 - Lmk Jct is the second longest....grrr....aahhhh! R
  23. inspired by the corrugated ends of a beef curry tray, it might be possible to "press" thick foil to get the profile of beet opens. Bumps and bends from rough handling, would also "add" to the prototype look! Maybe not for the discerning modeller though....
  24. Signal Box photo in wrenns post is Clonsilla.
