  1. shem, might want to rename the image before upload! Whitehead 1937?
  2. Interesting indeed lads about the Baden State Railway. This is 751 outside the robotic welding shop of Plasser & Theurer in Linz Austria prior to shipping to Ireland courtesy of Ontrackplant.com. Your turn Garf!
  3. Close but no cigar....
  4. Just for the craic to keep the heads scratching for a while. I'll get the ball rolling, and feel free to add more, even if previous haven't been answered. 01: Name a location in mainland europe, outside of this Island that uses 5'3" gauge railway tracks.
  5. jaysus broithe, that's going too far altogether. buy a parkside winch, hoist your layout to the ceiling, and you'd have a nice little heart attack around four in the morning when a couple hundred weight of mdf comes crashing to the ground. The cheapest, and worst engineered tools ever. R.
  6. Wiggy has asked twice, and I'm going to follow it up. (My photos show now number markings whatsover on any of those wagons?!) Regarding the newer flat sided type, my mathematical monkeys tell me that it's a 42' chassis with an identical wheelbase to the southern 42' flat. Can anyone confirm and more to the point does anyone know the manufacturer of them so I can ask them directly? Richie.
  7. Well when you do get it plugged it in, put it in the Calendar as "First Annual IRM Meeting" and I'm sure I can find a few to come inspect to H&S criteria of the fridge! BYOB I assume?
  8. Nice work Dave, though I'd recommend censoring some of your workshop shots. Looks like too much fun altogether!

If you have anything you would like to exhibit let me know asap so we can fit you in. Please share with your friends, we would appreciate that. https://www.facebook.com/CorkModelFair?ref=stream
  10. too funny Garf! Need to grow a peculiar bit of facial hair, wear a tweed sportscoat, and start spouting union talk if I see a breakdown!
  11. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FASTRAX-4MM-X-10M-LINE-MASKING-TAPE-RC-MODELING-/370843395117?pt=UK_ToysGames_RadioControlled_JN&hash=item5657fd242d I assume this is for a Client Dave, rather than yourself? I was going to suggest laying down some insulating tape and cutting it into 5mm strips! The stuff above is the best you'll get, sticks like sh1t to a blanket. R.
  12. Mighty! Good effect with the airbrush too. Where are they based on? R
  13. Saaw this a few weeks ago. The sound editing and overuse of stock sounds of mainline steam locos superimposed on black and white shots of wobbly little locos will make garfield ill. unlike rte's editing dept. you certainly cant knock the enthusiasm of the locals though, and they've done a crackin job. plenty more railway generations to come.
  14. Ah sugar. it looked so like the 3d model and a few photos, but isee the differnces now. will keep on looking. R.
  15. from irrs feb 2013 In October, NIR advertised in the European Journal for the refurbishment of its six ballast wagons, built in 1992. Work includes conversion from vacuum to air brakes and fitting of lights for night-time working. Work will take place between April 2013 and February 2014. I assume this is the french styleee wagons, as shown in kirleys photos. does anyone have anymore info on these wagons? maker, wheelbase, length over headstocks? Is there a suitable donor, even for just the chassis? The other older ones with the rivetted side panels - the seacows/walrus have gone by the way of the dodo bar one? Good topic liverbird. Richie
  16. Ernie, I believe this is what you're looking for at 0:21 Richie
  17. Superb stuff Kieran. Give the trusses by the windows a dark wash of brown dilute paint and by the time the windows and the roof goes on, you'll not even notice. It's coming together really really well.
  18. Shem, The central horsebox was called up as 60M when it was brought into the CIE umbrella from MGWR. 12'4" high, 9' wheelbase, 15' chassis, build date 1901. There was a sliding panel Mike that slid up, and another that slid across within the doors. The two upper parts of the door hinged left and right, and the lower portion dropped down to the form the ramp. Beside that an infill panel, then a grooms door. The others in the rake appear to be DSER Ashbury horseboxes from 1879, but not 100% sure. Meant to add that the annual fair in ballinasloe, up to 1500 horses would change hands, with up to 50 special trains operated to accommodate along with 25,000 sheep and 10,000 cattle. In CIE days at least 5 specials would operate. Alphagrafix do a card kit of the MGWR horsebox, available from SSM, I believe. Info from Des Coackhams Broad Gauge Carraiges, and H&D Railways in Ireland 1834-1984 Richie.
  19. Twould be nicer in colour Are they horseboxes on the left? I see one in the middle with the side portion for the dog...
  20. http://www.plasser.co.uk/en/machines/00drawing.htm#rm95rt.gif&RM 95 RT As a 00 model, it would be 578 mm long, nearly two feet in old money.
  21. superb thus far kirley. When you squint at the stonework, you can see how it will look as a finished article. Any help i can throw at the project, just ask.
  22. What a fabulous layout Eamonn. Rural and urban no problem. I'm really impressed by the small detail all over the place, especially the two different types of ballast brake wagon on the PW train. It looks about 20' x 12' in size. Just for pig iron, what size is it? Love the incline joining the mainline, really well done all over the shop. Richie.
  23. One good turn deserves another dave...
  24. Wouldn't that be some way to ballast track! I'm sure many would pony up for a working version!
