  1. I'll second that. The golden brown color is spot on also. Des's detailing parts take it to a different level. There's no doubt that the Silver Fox A Class can be turned from a sows ear into a purse. That and one of Georgeconnas A Class locos are as good as it gets. Scahalane go to the top of the class, superb stuff. Rich,
  2. Sweet Wanderer, I love the night time lights above the bogies on 229. It would make a nice project for the model of 229. Rich,
  3. Rob if you get a chance to see any footage of the wagons being loaded in Wellington Bridge it will explain a lot. I remember seeing rakes parked in Waterford East awaiting signals and being covered in dust from nearby building work many many years ago. They used to get covered in dust and debri from the work at Mount Misery and the new road while all the work was going on. Each one has a weathered look all of it's own. I think the best thing to do is keep the color uniform within the rake. They were parked out in the elements when The beet season was finished so they would have seen all sorts of weather. I remember having a close look at a rake in Waterford West and they were parked next to the cement loading facility. Some checking revealed light cement dust on the wagons. Rich,
  4. Beautiful David. I love the bar car. The day and night time photos are very atmospheric. I sincerely wish you and Mark all the luck in the world. Rich,
  5. It's looking like what it is supposed to be Stephen, a Railway. Dapol catenary should do the job nicely and flow with the track. You don't shirk from the challenges that you set for yourself, and I have on occasion. Truly inspirational. Rich,
  6. John those are amazing models. The hard work and the desire to get them right has paid off. I think the brass kit is definitely the right choice. In the eight months that the group has been open we have have seen some truly remarkable models being produced from scratch. Whether they are kit's, rtr, or scratch builds. This will only produce positive results for the hobby and the group. It will also bring new members when they see just how many amazing modellers we have in every field. I can't wait to see more from your stable. 2013 is going to be a cracking year, and your models will play a huge part in that. Rich,
  7. I think I'd hold it in Gareth. It looks like a freezer. Although it ain't as bad as the smell in the 22000's Rich,
  8. Thanks for sorting that Pat. 1997 and it is now consigned to history. It goes to show that you don't need a huge space (it's nice mind you if you have it) to build a model railway. Baby, GSV, Craven, not to hard on the pocket and prototypical. Rich,
  9. Pat that is simply brilliant. The catenary, the road vehicles. The vehicles stopping at the traffic light's. Freight, passenger trains, and beautiful scenery. The architecture is amazing. Thanks for that I've really enjoyed it. Rich,
  10. Tell me more John. Ian Paice and Roger Glover, that would have wrestled me to the ground. If Richie Blackmore had been on guitar he would have probably peeled the hair off your skull. Made in Japan is one of my favorite live albums, highway star is a show stealer and Gillan's vocals on child in time are shuddering. I have a live version of bought and sold by Rory Gallagher and it shakes the walls. Rich,
  11. I'd forgotten about that Seamus. She looks stunning. Rich,
  12. That sums it up Stephen. The quality of the finished model is no surprise when you look at the 2600's. From designing the artwork, shaping the bodies, painting the liveries it is worth every penny. Can you imagine the work that has gone into each model. The interiors and interior lighting are amazing. But the most important thing is the model to prototype fidelity and the lads have captured it perfectly. These are landmark models and the lads have set the bar, I hope more people will be encouraged to place orders, and I hope they help sell some more MM 201's, as the are a great compliment to them. I think 222 or 229 would look just as nice as 8208 with the current livery of the DD's. I can't wait to see some in the original livery. David and Mark are two very modest lad's and they let their models do the talking. They don't need to advertise their work does it for them. They deserve a huge amount of respect, they beaver away and never break concentration, that takes great determination. Stephen yourself and Noel have models from David and Mark and the fact that you ordered them without seeing even a part assembled model shows the faith you have in the lads to deliver. These models are up their with the best of the rest, and deservedly so. Rich,
  13. I can only add to what Pat and Vincent have said, Amazing. You are a lucky boy Noel. Top marks to David and Mark for all their hard work. They have created a classic and deserve huge kudos for it. This is a huge step forward for the hobby, smashing. Rich,
  14. Thank you Patrick, I'll enjoy that. Rich,
  15. Cool Eamonn, did you have a good time, was there a free bar. Rich,
  16. Look cool Jim, I still can't part with my Mission floor standers. A pal of mine worked with PA's and sound systems for night clubs many years ago and pimped my ones. Listening to Sorrow by Pink Floyd on the pulse album is like getting hit in the chest with a sledge hammer. Rich, OMS Violator Depech Mode
  17. Cheers Wanderer, I look forward to the next collection. Don't be too long. Rich,
  18. That's never going to be an issue Stephen, look at how many pages and replies that are in this thread. When I am ready to start my own layout I will be using DCC and cobalt motors for points and signals. So there will be questions fired in your direction. We're getting a free education and it's about model railways, how good is that. Rich,
  19. Fantastic work Rob. Being honest on a day when the weather was more inclement and skies were overcast they took on a different appearance. I think that anyone modelling beet trains should base their layout in the winter season as per the prototype. To my eye and having seen hundreds of beet trains you have captured the look very well. Rich,
  20. I was always a bit wary of how the sound would come across in a scaled down version. The lads seem to have done it well. I'd like to hear a pair of babies double headed with sound in both. Rich,
  21. Don't worry about going a little off topic, we all do it. Naim always produced the goods in the innards of their components where it matters. No point in having good looking equipment with poor sound. Rich,
  22. That's some very interesting info Rob. The low end sound I have heard thumping from the speaker as fitted to the models is the best I have heard from a speaker fitted loco. I like a good steady bass sound in my hi fi and I decided to bi amp my system. I use the amp for the components and the high end of the speakers. I use a power amp for the low end of the speakers. I have managed to get a great balance of sound from this set up. I love watching my models from above eye level and I would therefore be reluctant to remove the fans from my models to fit a more low ended sounding speaker as the fans are a particularly nice part of the models roof. I would be happy to use the speaker as is having seen videos of them working as they sound a much better quality to what I have heard before online. I look forward to hearing more from you're experiments. Rich,
  23. Good luck with the Kendal exhibition from what I have seen in photos Old Blarney is a magnificent layout. Many happy returns for Christmas and the New Year to you. Rich,
