  1. Pat first of all congratulations on a great report. It must have been a sad day for those serving in the Brigade. What a historical event but very little known of it. General Ahearn's speech was very poignant. It was obviously heart wrenching for the Brigade. Rolling up the flag and the lights out salute at the end were very moving also. You know I have a big interest in the Military Pat and thanks for sharing this. Rich,
  2. I love Tara Junction Noel. It is so busy being a bustling railway with so many diverse trains running. It is an operators heaven and it is what modelling is all about having a great time recreating life. There are some fabulous layouts posted here and it is inspiring stuff for both new and current modellers. All I need now is the shed built as seeing Tara Junction brings home exactly what I am missing. Rich,
  3. I'm counting the minutes Stephen. These are going to be a landmark model, and will be simply amazing judging from the pics I have seen so far. Rich,
  4. You must have been watching Pulp Fiction Seamus. Rich,
  5. Gareth I don't need any more arm twisting as to whether I should or shouldn't after what I've heard, once Christmas is out of the road I will be ordering one. Rich,
  6. There is no doubt that having fitted that many models with sound you know what you are talking about Rob. I've watched the videos that the lads have posted here of their sound fitted locos and it does add a huge dimension to modelling. Sometimes it's hard to gauge a sound on a laptop with basic speakers but they do sound fantastic. Very few locos have a roar like the 071's and the lads have captured the sound to a tee. Rich,
  7. Rob that sounds (excuse the pun) pretty conclusive for anyone thinking about going down the sound route. Have fun with it and well down to Gareth and co for bringing it to the market. Rich,

    Nir 201

That sounds good, hopefully we will see 230 also. 220 and 230 were at the top of the list for me 201 wise so at least I'm halfway there. Rich,
  9. Hopefully I may still be able to make it. If I can't I hope everyone has a great day and please post some pics. Rich,

That looks great Ger, I bet you're really pleased with it. Fabulous work, well done. Rich,
  11. John that is an amazing video. I have really enjoyed it. The scenery and the viaducts are breath taking. I love the scene of the train crossing at Gisborne Airport when the helicopter comes into view. The shots of Gisborne rail yard are fantastic from the chap changing the point to the turntable scene. New Zealand is a beautiful country and some of it looks untouched by human hands. It's really sad that the services have ended on the line. Some of the shots of the locos head on look a little like our Irish models on 16.5mm track. Once again John a really special video, thanks for posting. Rich,
  12. Fran, Pat I wouldn't doubt you lads. Thanks for the info, the model is smashing. It is a powerful looking loco. Rich,
  13. Are there any models available Pat. Rich,
  14. No Gerhard is the simple answer. They are repaints of British Rail coaches. It's your layout at the end of the day and if you can live with the fact that they aren't prototypical Irish coaches then it's a win situation. HTH Rich,
  15. Nice one Sulzer. There's no doubt about it, traveling in the cab of a loco is a completely different experience then traveling in the coaches. Rich,
  16. Thanks for the heads up lads. I must get a copy. Rich,
  17. I must say that Seamus and his crew provide an excellent service. They look very nice in the NIR livery. Rich,
  18. That kind of plastic used on the lamp irons has some give in it and some gentle persuasion should help straighten them out. Sometimes they can move a bit in the packing process. Etched ones tend to get moved a bit during handling also. For details that are fitted during manufacture they do look good. Rich,
  19. Some very sound advice Rob, thanks for sharing. Some railway vehicles are hand painted in the 1ft = 12 inches world. Rich,
  20. That's an excellent result for the model, 9.3 out of 10. It has reached the standards of the Baby GM's and they are among the very best of previously released 00 models. Well deserved and a credit to all involved in the manufacture of the models. Rich,
  21. Keep up the good work Brian so far it all looks good. Rich,
  22. Eamonn we all benefit from the encouragement and good will given to us by fellow modellers. At the end of it all it inspired you to pick up the tools and the brass to have a pop at something yourself. You have carried on by giving advice and helpful tips while encouraging others so things evolve and keep the hobby moving. Rich,
  23. Great stuff Sulzer. 071 looks very at home in it's surroundings. Rich,
  24. Good luck with retirement Gerry. Rich,
