  1. Let us know how you get on.
  2. And as Bosko said make sure you put metal joiners on all the other rails.
  3. Move the joiner in the circle to the rail with the other circle.
  4. Take off the clips and put the plastic railjoiners on the tracks leading from the frog like in the diagram.
  5. You need to take the little clips off the point.
  6. By the way from which direction is the train approaching the point when this happens?
  7. Do you have insulated (plastic) joiners on the two tracks leading away from the frog? Like in this diagram...
  8. An official from the HSE is visiting the director of a mental hospital.... "Doctor, can you tell me how you decide whether an individual should be committed to this institution?" The doctor replies "It's simple. I ask the person to fill the bathtub then I place a teaspoon, a cup and a bucket in front of them and tell them to empty the bath as quickly as possible." "Ah, so if they choose the bucket they are sane?" "No, they are sane if they pull out the plug. Now do you want a bed by the window?"
  9. OL is definitely a short. It could be the wheels bridging the gap between the rails, does it happen as soon as the first set of wheels crosses the point? Where exactly does it occur? It would help if you could tell us if it's and insulfrog or electrofrog point.
  10. Gobsmacking work! I can recommend the Gaugemaster Prodigy although I don't have the wireless version.
  11. A know a lot of the guys here have used purpose made decals. I just masked of the sides of the coach leaving a thin strip and airbrushed matt white in VERY thin coats until it built up a solid colour.
  12. What exactly happens? Does everything stop ? Does it happen with every train or is it a particular loco/coach/wagon?
  13. Well I ordered a 201 chip fro Gareth during the week and he told me it would be on it's way to me some time next week. I did have a bit of a wait for my 071 chip but the there was a big backlog of pre-orders with them, and they had trouble getting enough of the blank decoders to fill the orders. Never had to wait 2 months though.... My advice would be to give Model Shop Belfast a shout. I'm sure he could get you sorted for Xmas.
  14. I think the difference is that Model Shop's recordings are taken directly from the original locos. I suspect MM's chips are using generic sounds from ESU, correct me if I'm wrong there guys.....
  15. I don't have any of the Murphy Models decoders so I can't comment on how good they are, but here's a thread discussing them. http://irishrailwaymodeller.com/showthread.php/1993-ESU-LokSound-V4-for-MM-Class-201-amp-071/page4?highlight=murphy+decoder There's a video on the last page listing the various sounds. I have one 071 decoder from Model Shop Belfast and I would highly recommend them. Their after sales service is top notch too. Here's an excellent video that lists all the sounds available on the Model Shop's decoders. [video=youtube_share;WWhvSC7kw_w]
  16. That Bus is fantastic, dirt in all the right places!
  17. Birthday was lovely, thanks! Good to hear you're going with DCC, only way forward IMHO.... What I said about keeping the track and loco wheels spotless is even more important with DCC as even a momentary breaking in signal will cause locos to stop dead. For DCC you should consider modifying the points as insulfrog are "power routing" and only supply current to the direction they are set. DCC needs the entire layout to be live at all times. It's a simply job to modify the points, only takes a couple of minutes and a little soldering. Steer clear of the little clips which Hornby sell to do the same job, they can cause problems. Here is an excellent source of info for wiring DCC (and DC) layouts - http://www.brian-lambert.co.uk/index.html
  18. Hi Blu and welcome to the forum. You don't mention if you are using DCC or DC control for your layout but just to give an opinion on your question about points... As far as the insulfrog points are concerned my layout is all insulfrog, albeit a mix of Hornby and Peco. If lay them level and keep them clean you will have no trouble running any of your locos on insulfrog. The 141's/071's have power pickup on all wheels so they will glide over the points once they are clean. The only locos that will give trouble are short base locos like 0-6-0 diesel shunters or those with poor pickup such as the older Lima models. I use DCC and have sound installed in many of my locos and don't have any problems ONCE THE TRACK IS CLEAN!
  19. Always loved this layout, so much going on yet never looks too crowded!
  20. Same to you, sir. It was actually yesterday but I didn't want to steal your thunder!
  21. Hey, check out the profile. We're both senior members!
  22. Thanks lads! 210 - River Erne, all she needs now is a sound chip. The sound on the Bachmann F7 A and B units is very good, I'll post a video when I get the chance.
  23. Well, yesterday actually! Couple of surprises from the wife and kids for the big "Four O"....
  24. Can I ask what the "weekly circular" is?
