  1. Looks to be about 60ft x 30ft. Still enough space for a hefty layout! Does anyone know who they have selected to handle the model making? I have to say, if the original layout is pretty much a total rebuild, I'd much prefer to see a monster OO gauge layout.

  5. Hi Kieran, I'm afraid I'm not willing to post CAD images due to them being easily copied and also because it is a 2D CAD drawing for an etch and not a nice exciting 3D model. I regret that the model hasn't been released yet but I'm going as fast as I can.
  6. Fantastic work George. What are the radials off? DC6 or DC7?
  7. The very link you posted has the answer!
  8. White primer affects the colour of the top coat. I suggest always spraying onto grey primer when spraying your orange/tan.
  9. Apologies, I meant GL8 on which the 121 is based. The G12/G8 are a much longer loco.
  10. The G12 is not the same as the G8. It's a good bit longer although it does use similar(same?) bogies.
  11. Take great care when removing the light refractors from the walkway molding as they are extremely fragile.
  12. Walkways are glued on so only way to remove them is carefully pull them away and then re-attach with glue. There are 4 screws accessible from below. They're just above and inboard of the outer wheel sets.
  13. Excellent looking layout so far. I especially like the track work. Really goes to show what can be done with Peco track. Is is code 75 or 100 and what ballast and weathering paint did you use?
  14. The CAD is now complete and I'll be looking at getting some test etches done shortly. I only anticipate minimal amendments will be required once I get my hands on the test etches. I'm aware that it is taking a lot longer than originally planned but unfortunately progress through remaining orders for railcars and DDs is extremely slow due to overtime at the day job that cannot be avoided. Apologies for this. I know it's frustrating for you guys!
  15. You seem to have a lot of spare space in the room that's not devoted to the layout? Which track planning software is that?
  16. He means that the rail is cast lower down in the plastic sleeper casting so that only an effective code 55 protrudes above the sleepers. So when you remove the plastic you'll simply have code 100 rail left in your hand.
  17. That's an 071. No question about it.
  18. Yes you're right. I looked into it and it's actually a body kit for a GL8. According to the dimensions on their website is is very definitely 1/87 scale and wouldn't work at all.
  19. Would you not just get one of those and modify it to look like a 121? It even has the vents in the right place and the correct number of steps on the bonnet sides. A little bit of cutting and shutting, along some detailing and a nice spray job, will have that looking like a nice 121. Or... Wait for the MM 121 to come out?
  20. Ah yes, good point. But I assume everything but the boiler should be correct to the loco's current form?
  21. Excellent find! Very useful. I can use this to double check the accuracy of the CAD I've already done.
