  1. We have 4, or possibly 5 new IRM announcements between now and year end, all going to plan
  2. We've a little surprise on it's way in the next week or so, then a new announcement in September too
  3. The Hattons / bachmann issue remains unresolved unfortunately. it was due to hattons becoming a manufacturer in their own right. Not discounts.
  4. Our highly anticipated weed spray set is now in stock in time to signal the final days of the prototype in service on the network! IE's weed spray train has been an essential infrastructure service for many years, operating every May across the entire IE network (including closed lines) to keep weed growth under control. In latter years it has also operated in September due to a change in the chemicals used. The prototype train switched from 20ft flats to 42ft flats in the mid 2000s with the introduction of the modified BR van. Operation was usually with a 141 and latterly an 071 with a very occasional 201 providing haulage. More recently the weed spray wagons have been paired with the larger sperry container wagon for brake force on its track recording missions across the network. Our weed spray pack features the three 42ft flat wagons with the distinctive weed spray tanks and a single CIE 20ft container used for storage of supplies. The tanks used were re-purposed from four wheeled tank wagons featuring the distinctive Bulleid triangulated underframes. This set is finished off with a 20ft container finished in a darker brown shade to reflect the darkened state of the prototype in service. As you can now expect from our models, the weed spray pack features a high level of detail and prototype fidelity to do these interesting prototypes justice! the diecast framed wagons feature sprung buffers, kinematic couplings with NEM pockets at correct height (and separate coupling bars provided for close coupling) as well as weighty tanks and container. We are still looking at producing the weed spray van, but as it is such a unique vehicle it is very hard to justify a RTR model. Thankfully there are models of this van already available in model form. The weed spray pack is now in stock and available for €150 for the three wagons. An essential pack for any layout based over the last 15 years of operation, this self contained short train is perfect for haulage behind your 141 or 071 models. Production is limited so make sure you place an order quickly for immediate dispatch here before they go! Place your order by clicking here. View the full article
  5. Yes, we'd recommend either ordering them in ones or two's by livery generally )free shipping should apply for most) to be safe.
  6. As far as we're aware, the Grey (including RPSI special) and possibly Black and Tan and -maybe- Irish Rail versions are en route.
  7. Unfortunately our systems don’t support that until the items are in stock.
  8. We design the models and then work with the factory to layout the moulds as efficiently as possible based on material needed and parts while the factory resolve any flow requirements using their software. We offer commissions if you need something produced.
  9. You do need to be approved by them but you can spread purchases up to €499.99 over 6-12 months interest free too.
  10. We're looking into FlexiFi at the moment - if anyone has any experience with it?
  11. No, they are demountable, just like the real thing.
  12. Our latest wagon in our "Project 42" series is the most modern of all; the spoil container wagons! These wagons are in stock now, ready to dispatch today! Who doesn't love a bit of permanent way yellow? These bright wagons were converted to dedicated spoil wagons to work on infrastructure trains. Such services have been seen across the IE system for almost 10 years now. A total of 24 wagons were converted at Limerick Works to replace the aging former barytes wagons on this duty and they debuted in traffic in September 2011. Usually found behind 071s (or occasionally 201s!) the wagons are used to clear used ballast and spoil from engineering works, side by side the HOBS wagons. They often be found stationed in the permanent way sidings at Portarlington. More recently they have been hired by Translink to operate some spoil trains in Northern Ireland and in the past week are being used to transport used sleepers from North Wall to the south east of the country. Our model of these vitally important workhorses feature a wealth of separately applied detail and capture the distinctive looks of these wagons. A heavy diecast chassis ensures adequate weight is provided in these low level wagons, with the spoil containers faithfully rendered and featuring the run off guards at each end. These wagons of course feature our high specification including sprung buffers, close coupling mechanism with optional coupling bars, rotating axle bearing caps and intricate detail we expect to find on scale models of the prototypes. The best thing about this model is that there is no wait time between ordering and dispatch; these wagons are in stock now, ready to post! Packs are €100 each, with a bundle deal of all four packs for €370. So, make sure you don't miss out, order here: https://irishrailwaymodels.com/collections/ie-spoil-wagons View the full article

  14. Hi Paddy, A One4all is a prepaid Debit card. There are two types. Those issued last year, which support up to €50 spent online, and their new digital version, which supports €150 They are used as a credit card on checkout, so you just need to limit your spend to the limits above for the order (as the systems don't let you split a bill between two cards I'm afraid)
  15. We're already shipping customs data on all orders, so we don't foresee any change.
  16. In the short to medium term, it will not impact anything, but we continue monitoring the situation.
  17. Thanks for the heads-up murphaph! The A issue looks like a glitch with the variants on that line, we'll get that cleaned up thanks. The preorder warnings were required as we had many instances of customers mixing orders for in stock and preorders or multiple preorder lines, causing confusion when the system waited until everything was in stock! On the pricing, the website displays 'inc VAT' prices throughout, including the Cart, and checkout screens, as below. If for any reason you see not including VAT prices, it will be if the website can not identify your location (we show vat prices based on your location). In that case just log in, or provide your address and the system will add or remove VAT dynamically. Hope that helps!
  18. Per the announcement the RPSI special is expected in August. The preOrder warning should only pop up if you try to order in stock items and preorders together hope that helps
  19. We are delighted to announce that we have teamed up with the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland (RPSI) to assist in the retail and distribution of their hotly anticipated Murphy Models 121 Class limited edition model. The RPSI has worked closely with Murphy Models to provide modellers and collectors an incredibly special edition model of their locomotive B134 in the distinctive grey and yellow livery. This model, strictly limited to 300 pieces, will be presented in the condition the real locomotive will appear once its extensive restoration at Inchicore Works is completed ahead of its return to the mainline. These distinctive features include LED marker lights, walkway handrails and the restoration of the original cab windows over the iconic bonnet of these iconic locomotives. B134 will be a great addition to any Irish outline model railway or collection and will also be an ideal locomotive to run with recently produced Craven coaches in the RPSI livery. All proceeds from the sale of this model will go directly to the RPSI. With the current health pandemic, the RPSI is unable to operate normal mainline operations and as a result there is zero funds coming in from the operation of trains. The sale of these locomotives will not only provide you with a very special model but you will be directly helping the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland. Speaking about the model, Gerry Mooney of the RPSI stated: “The production of this model has been made possible through the generous assistance from Paddy Murphy of Murphy models who has given up some of his production run to facilitate this model. The Railway Preservation Society of Ireland is also extremely grateful to Irish Railway Models who have also generously offered to assist the society in the processing of orders and dispatch of the models.” It brings us great joy that we here at IRM are able to join up with the RPSI and Murphy Models to further support railway preservation in Ireland by assisting the RPSI in the online retail, order processing and distribution of these models. The models are in the final stages of production and we expect them in stock in August 2020. Price is €189.99 with postage standing at €10 for Ireland and the UK, and €15.50 for the Rest of World. Support the RPSI and railway preservation in Ireland and place your pre-order here! https://irishrailwaymodels.com/products/b134-class-121-locomotive-rpsi-grey-yellow View the full article
  20. Welcome Fiacra! IRM have a number of announcements and new releases coming between now and year end that should help
  21. The Bell and P&O containers we provided in the initial liner run were C-Rail manufacture, and the flats are designed to accommodate any of their items, HTH!
  22. A nice piece on the real costs of RTR models also by them https://www.prototypejunction.com/2020/03/what-does-it-take-to-make-model-why-so.html
  23. Note however that bachmann likely make 10-15,000 coaches in a run, if not more.
  24. The trouble with any new RTR model is that the tooling is a pretty predictable cost. If you make 540 models you have to amortise that tool cost over only 540 models. Making the model very expensive.
  25. We're working on both options Robert!
