    LOOKS WELL! Are the buildings plastic? Are the platforms TREATED timber? Do you have a 'weed-sprayer' train to run if algae grows all over your hard work? Are the tracks powered or the locos are battery powered with IR control? How does it run when wet/damp conditions?

    HI Noel. Yes, I understood that. I presume IT is speaking of the LokPilot V4 then. But I didn't understand the difference between a 'function' (and what that can control) versus a 'logic' function (and what that can control) or was that in reference to the 6 functions on a function only decoder?

    Thanks very much, Noel. Remember the decoder is small in your hands and not far away I wonder if the previous owner did not have CV29 enabled and I'm not set up on DCC to change it yet…..

    I understood from reading threads on the site that decoders still allowed operation on DC. On previous threads the owner of a misbehaving DCC equipped loco would be asked if it functioned on DC as a starting point to troubleshoot the decoder problem. Turns out that TCS decoders do not function under DC control. Does any one know what decoders are or are not compatible with DC running? …. and why? Thanks in advance.

    Are you still referring to the Fx V4.0 function only decoder and saying it still works with the PCB in the MM0071? Or the LokPilot V4?     Is that prototypical of anything? I kinda wish we had a section of 'rtr' and kits available from various manufacturers alongside a photo of an Irish outline prototype which they very closely resemble

    So the functions would be used like this…..? 6 Function decoder 1 - Front marker lights (Cab1 driving) + rear light(s) 2 - Front marker lights (Cab 2 driving) + other set of rear lights 3 - Main beam on/off (Cab1 driving) 4 - Main beam on/off (Cab2 driving) 5 - Cab 1 lights on/off 6 - Cab 2 lights on/off Motor - present on every decoder ('functions' are additional to this)

    Think it was the Wrath of Khan where Spock sacrifices himself in an irradiated engine room. If I remember correctly the quote was reversed in the next movie

    There is only one registered member with a similar handle. I am not sure if he is the author of that thread. You may need to check with a mod or one of the members who have been on here a little longer may know

    I was also wondering after fitting the decoders, whether it will still run for testing etc. on DC?

    Darwinian evolution, minister! The slow are eaten by dinosaurs and the stupid blown up by compressed flammable gases. It doesn't work out every time, of course. Did you notice how the cam switched from IR to day mode a couple of seconds later, not sure if it was the flash itself or someone turning on the outside light to see if the apocalypse had begun!

    Really enjoyed that. Not all the way through yet but more tonight. Not really into garden railways (they don't mix well with hurricanes;)) but a lot of the principles would be useful constructing indoors as you said

    Eh, Jim are you the one with the secret member files. Given the number of regular members there's probably a birthday every second or third day at most

    Different strokes, I guess. I think it is certainly an opportunity to model and something new and may be 'liked' for that reason alone. It may well look better with it's one rake, to be fair, but a little like the Mersey ferry with the IWT. It will probably grow on me (like mould)
