Hi, I am wondering if it is possible to install a DCC decoder in an Irish outline DMU like the Bachmann 2700 class (30-051) with proper control of the directional marker lights and cab lights (I am not certain that it has the latter as I don't have one yet) I did not see anything in our new DCC sub forum and was wondering if anyone has done this. I had a look online at RMweb and the main solutions seem to be 1. A single motor control chip in the power car and a two-function second chip in the non-powered car to control lighting 2. A chip in each car (fortunately only two cars in this DMU) so they effectively run as 'a consist' (although one is unpowered). I believe the advantage of the latter method is to circumvent some issues the chip in the unpowered car would encounter working out direction of motion. DESIRABLE 3. If possible it would be nice to separate the cars as required for storage or servicing, which is why I didn't want to send several long wires to the lighting on the unpowered car. 4. At some point in the (probably distant) future I would likely wish to light the passenger compartment of the cars and it would be good to future proof them rather than binning everything and starting from scratch. Can anyone elaborate on the Turfburner a little bit as I didn't find this info going back through the thread. Obviously it ran on turf which doesn't have very concentrated hydrocarbons like coal or anthracite. Was this the sole fuel? How long did it take to get this thing started in the morning? Did the boiler operate at the same pressure? what was performance like? Was it the only one? Did it see service or mainly experimental? Thanks, Kevin

Sure, Dave, I realized that, and they were in IE in the Lima packs before. It's just odd that one wouldn't choose unique numbers for anything produced before, like MM0071 and MM7071 for example

Oh, that would be the problem then, almost no cruise ships drafting less than 20-23 feet. Cobh is maintained at about 37 feet at the dockside by dredging but deeper at the mouth of the harbour.

A similar story to Aer Lingus in the early years wanting to expand trans-Atlantic services to the USA only to be shut down by the then Taoiseach/minister ("another ambitious scheme, we prefer mediocrity!"). Had a quick look online to confirm this and Royal Caribbean's, Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas draft 30 ft each. Only one I found more than that was RMS QM2 at 33ft. How deep is DL harbor?

The TO run for Mriya is just under 10,000ft at Max TOW, 9,800, I think. Rwy 24 at SNN is only 9110ft (as I landed there several times in another life), so she could not go FULLY laden. No more than Ruslan due to increased wing area and 6 engines. The landing roll is even longer than the TO requirement if laden

Put me down for three.... The kit looks great but too complex for me having never done brass. The cost of someone doing it for me was multiples of the cost of the item, again since there's probably a fair amount of work involved. Beautiful when she's done though
