  1. I guess I'll have to entrust Facebook to lose my identity to see this:((
  2. Good stuff! Will do my homework now based on recommendations. No experience of card kits. Are they reasonably durable over time? Hopefully greater variety. Realistic?
  3. He has good stuff and is a great vendor but several of mine have been damaged in transit due to the lack of a custom fit box to protect the fine detail parts
  4. Pretty good? and the other points? Should I be building something else before I invest?
  5. Very very good guys! This us great. I'm going to use peco 75 just wanted to make sure I could re wheel as a last resort. Great information on wheels and axles! Thanks so much! Kevin PS peco have some if the best points too, right?
  6. Starting a new DCC layout. Was planning to use Peco Code 75 Flexitrack as Peco probably have the best livefrog points/turnouts. (Comments welcome on this) I have many older Dapol wagons (7-plank and Cattle) I seem to remember that older wheels may have issues on the Code 75 track? Can anyone verify whether they are likely to run well on Code 75 or can my 'cattle' be shod differently to cope? Thanks, Kevin
  7. Since it's in the free to good home section without a price for a week, I'll happily take my first 201 for free
  8. I am looking to acquire some of the Bachmann Scenecraft Irish Outline Buildings (one or more) 44-250 Bachmann Irish Signal Box 44-251 Bachmann Irish Running Shed 44-252 Bachmann Irish Station Building I'm not in a hurry so please keep this post in mind if you have surplus gathering dust without plans to get it in a layout. Thank you, Kevin
  9. Got it and see where you guys found the pictures too! Tried the others on eBay worldwide. I'm OK with getting them wherever I can find them...
  10. All three are available from a vendor in the US (not me!). All his stuff is not listed on eBay.com (as he has a large inventory). The eBay price would be cheaper and shipping not too bad particularly if you want more than one. PM me if you can't locate in UK and I'll try to facilitate this ( I buy some stuff from him including 112 last week)
  11. Point taken. Thanks for the photos, I know it takes time to upload this these. I se these two are available online Any ideas on where I can get the others?
  12. OK, thanks folks! I did't know there were five buildings. I can only see a couple that seem to be still available online, Carlow Station. The Auld House pub. Are they somewhat realistic 'in the flesh'? nay idea if any of the others are available anywhere?? Thanks, Boskonay for the link.
  13. If all else fail vendors outside the British Isles still have some stock. You'll increase you shipping fees but if you want the loco it's an option. I have to buy most if my locos from Europe
  14. The only buildings that I know of that are "suitable" for Irish outline are about three from Bachmann's Scenecraft range. Since I'm starting a layout soon it make sense for me to try to acquire some buildings to incorporate into the layout as the opportunity arises. The problem is that I do not know what is out there that might be very similar to a station building or signal box in some part of the Irish system. If you have recommendations I could potentially browse sales in model shops or on eBay and acquire some. I do not want to scratch build anything yet, and would prefer a ready made snap together to a kit, unless it is so tacky that it would never look remotely realistic in the layout eventually. I'm looking at Irish CIE later steam and early/mid diesel era but most of the infrastructure probably dates well back into steam. Any advice is welcome and thanks for your opinions and time.
  15. I think it would be of most value to someone who wished to restore it for its own sake
  16. It's like high school physics all over again! but yes, a good site
  17. Quick search before you get swindled on here http://www.vintagehornby.net/pics/lo1102.jpg This is probably what you have. It worth a few hundred pounds STG if Near mint. Yours probably doesn't qualify for that category (sorry!). Probably worth checking what else is in that lot in case there's a rare carriage or something but probably not worth much based on condition PS I have NOOOOO expertise in this area and someone else's opinion on here is probably better
  18. Well, I have no idea what it's worth, now or if restored……….. but I wouldn't trash it if you seen Wrenneire hanging around on a corner near you! :-)
  19. Hi Warbonnet. As a moderator, I presume your post relates to mine. No-one was identified in any way in the public forum regarding a private transaction but I'm guessing there was a private difference of opinion regarding a transaction that started this thread in the first place? If (hypothetically) a member were to repeatedly use the site to advertise models that were not as described etc, I presume the site would not facilitate or condone a continuance of these actions?
  20. That may be the case. However, if some sellers on this site have a business that also include the sale of model railway items, sales on here could well be construed as part of that business. I would hope that everyone on here (both seller and purchaser) would act in a fair and selfless manner. Incidentally, what should one do if a payment has been send to a member on this site and is "complete" through PayPal but no word of whether the items have even been mailed? I'm assuming this member is on vacation of for the last week which would have been a poor time to offer items for sale… waiting patiently here tic-toc, tic-toc
  21. RebelRed, you're not alone. I'm also about to start a layout and have the same concerns and needs as you. The hobby is not cheap. The prudent modeler, while being able to increase the complexity and improve the functional and aesthetic appearance of any layout over time, needs to start on some foundation that can be relied upon, on which to build everything else. Some experienced modelers may no longer recall what is is like to be at the very infancy of a modeling hobby and what seems intuitively basic to most may not be so to some of us. I understand they initial comments on this thread and the fora are a great medium even at this point to help guide us on what we want to incorporate into any layout (I've had to ask several "stupid" questions on here already with great input from the members). David, while I understand there may be no bible per se for all of this, I appreciate your recommendations regarding the initial request.
  22. Wow! Very good information and some very nice old photos. My knowledge grows. Thanks so much!!
  23. Waiting on mine but only subscribed last week. Hope I'm not too late!
