  1. Not sure these are available on the US Amazon site, any recommendations for this side of the pond. I almost bought the multiples in a plastic box before seeing this thread
  2. Heard about about but not been on it. EDIT: Been on there and agree with Chris below. What's ailing you with the site , Popeye?
  3. yes, that's exactly what I was asking. Many thanks!
  4. I know these are on the fora somewhere but I failed to find them. Does anyone recall or have a list of these please? Thanks in advance
  5. There were about 7 major storms around the world last week including China, US east coast, Hawaii and others. As long as they're not being delivered by the typhoon that's probably a bonus
  6. Looks like he already reset it. Do you lose the sound file if reset? Can the MM values for motion be restored once reset?
  7. No, the Baby boomers in the 50s are dinosaurs now 2L is a nice little loco. It's an interesting thing that the brass kit can be disassembled and redone
  8. A well deserved rest after inserting the decoder chip. Well done the miniature guard and IRM!
  9. So the wire brush is out and we'll sees what's under this.. Many decades of smoke and soot removed yielded this ...... The base coat seems likely to be a 'red' (lead) oxide with the overlying black with white lettering. The paint for the latter seems more durable than the black
  10. John, if the kit is assembled in OO can it subsequently be converted to 21mm or once you've made a choice that's it?
  11. THat's a good point actually, Brian, although you;d probably not expect to pay UK VAT after Brexit but probably get stuck with importation taxes instead!
  12. Good morning John, Can we also include the 1339-50 Side Corridor Standard Coaches? They have an unusual door/window arrangements which adds a lot of appeal and were easily spotted on old CIE footage of the prototype? I'll commit to several of these and send you a PM. Some photos of your own below from the site to whet the appetites. K
  13. Looking very nice, John. I'll take her!
  14. Hi Fran, These would be function only decoders? How many functions will the chips have? I have the ESu controller so they 'd work well. I was wondering whether they might have uses in other stock that people have out there, EGVs, DVTs etc
  15. .... or even better a full length/WIDTH coach? (maybe after the 650?) (I'm waiting patiently, I know you have a full schedule)
  16. So Marcway will do 21mm track but as a custom order and points at a bit over the odds. Wonder if that that could be a bit keener for a fairly larger order? It's a shame that IRM or one of the manufacturers haven't considered this given the amount of interest in 21mm and the criticism on the site of those still 'on the wrong track'. Actually IRM's stock is easily converted including the new Tara's, I think?
  17. Mattessons Hams Same company for the sauseages Still in business, I think. I pulled this off the net, any use? W. A. ROSS AND CO., THE ROYAL BELFAST GINGER ALE AND AERATED WATER WORKS, BELFAST. The Wheatley's advert seems to be for The Monarch, presumably a bar in the area? The Trocken Boot, possibly a 'dry' boot, or maybe even imported from Germany or an army style boot Arthur Webb Boot & Shoe Warehouse 34 Upper Sackville Street, (now O' Connell Street) Dublin
  18. Same here John, something to run with a certain MGWR K/GSR 650 loco if I have the skill to build her in some sort of running order
  19. I.m sure you've zoomed in on the NLI photo linked to above. You can see the signage pretty well at max magnification as I was interested in that myself

  21. I really believe that exposure (or lack thereof) is, in part at least, responsible for the (apparent) lack of interest in irish steam. This may be because the irish modelling community is smaller than in GB. On the larger island in addition to greater degree of preservation of the prototype, there is still a lot of rtr stock available to run at exhibitions and to be seen on the shelf for purchase. Ken, that's a very impressive model indeed. Look forward to seeing her running.
  22. The choice is yours but it may be easier to triangulate than to cut the curve particularly whatever needs to support the inner edge?
  23. I do something similar to Jim with the largest radius curve transitioning from the straight and tightening around the curve with the same at the other end. Obviously this needs some additional space but avoids the sudden lateral (centrifugal) thrust on the rolling stock which looks as odd visually with the train as it does with the aesthetics of the railway, This is most pronounced at higher speeds such as on the main line and with longer rolling stock. The tightening curve also looks odd with longer coaches overhanging the track but sometimes that can be concealed in a tunnel etc. It may be worth while just have ing a few pieces of set track of different radii to help diode things and discourage one from tightening the flexitrack more than minimum curvatures
  24. Am I correct in thinking there is still no rtr 21mm track to purchase out there? Somehow in my mind I believe I may have hallucinated and confused the new Peco Finescale Code 75 bullhead track for a 21mm release. It'll be a larger layout so I'm ok with larger radius points but there is just no possibility that I’m going to make the track itself in addition to converting all the stock. Comments and suggestions are appreciated Thanks in advance Kevin
