As a customer I have voted confidence in IRMs great products over the years by putting money where my mouth was, and expect this to continue. Looking forward to running A class locos on the layout in due course, and a Deltic hauling BR ExLMS rakes.

Understand Fran, Apologies I just asked as you were on the forum today and I was just looking for a quick reminder to save me having to re-read the entire thread. You mentioned a possible date to me for the Kegs at the Dublin show but I forgot, and the early post on this thread on Ferts mentioned "The Ferts are due late Q2 2018." My vague memory of what you said to me at the show was after Christmas for the Kegs and Ferts (ie Q1.2020). Would that be a reasonable assumption? I was particularly taken by the Keg sample at the show.

Hi Fran ( @Warbonnet ). Any news on the new Keg and Fertiliser wagon time scale? Also if you don't mind the question, are the 001(A) livery variants likely to all land at the same time In March or in batches of specified liveries? Thanks. Noel

Love those H-Vans. Thousands of them transported goods around Ireland for many decades. Come on IRM you produced stunning modern era wagons, how about some H-Vans and Bulleid open wagons both the core of Irish goods traffic for over 50 years.

Are the models HO scale size or 00 scale?

I paint an oval of gloss varnish, wait 48hr for it to completely dry, apply decal over it using decal fix and then allow to dry for 24-48hr, then apply matt or satin varnish over it to seal as required. Rushing the process can trap moisture which may cause milky translucent look.

An online shop has no online ordering facility for the models, just stone age 1960s style Mail Order Forms that were common in Britain in the 1960s, with payment by cheque, postal order, or postal money order. Sorry for moaning but that's just jurassic beyond fossil trading. An online shop that uses paper, post, and takes days to place an order via snail mail. Do they not realise folks don't write cheques anymore, nor put paper in envelopes, stick stamps on envelopes and then physical walk to a letter box. Some UK model suppliers are the same, paper catalogs, send SAE for price lists, don't take credit cards not online boilings. Lost in an 1950s world. I'm a member or RPSI and know its staffed by wonderful volunteers but even tiny clubs have online payment options using PayPal, or other eCommerce stores in a box. It's so easy to set up. At least they have moved to Eventbrite for some of their rail tour bookings, but only a few years ago it was post'n'paper too. Its 2019 after all.

Personally I’d recommend the ‘NCE power cab’ as an excellent starter set in DCC. Alternatively the Roco z21 white set if you would like to use wireless smartphones as touch screen cabs. Good for custom labelling sound buttons but poor for tactile feedback of throttle control or one handed blind shunting operations. Personally I love the ergonomics of the NCE dog bone cab with its throttle control and all the function buttons, dead easy to set up too. Horses for courses, try as many as you can before buying. There are other systems like Zimo (expensive), ESU (very expensive games console cab), Lenz, MRC/Guagemaster prodigy, Digitrax, etc. The Roco z21 white set are usually supplied only with train sets but regularly sold separately on eBay, etc (ie separated from Roco train sets). Fran, Thanks for the update and the tip re the axle box lube. When do you think the A classes may be here? I've kadee'd mine already and now its time for a light weathering of the chassis and the containers. Beautiful wagons yet again. Looking forward to the Fertilisers in the new year.

Thanks for that Stephen. My order for the Bells hadn't arrived as of yet so wasn't sure. Since also ordered CIE + B&I and pre-ordered ferts.

A judicious bit of bogie weathering should soon cover the modern green/blue colours (ie for 1970s running). Fortunately ordered a set of B&I wagons yesterday.

Folks bear in mind there is not a lot of space available inside the 121 body's narrow bonnet. Given the see through grills, fitting a decoder and a speaker in there is going to be one heck of a design and engineering achievement, not to mention lights and working windscreen wipers Getting it just perfectly right is worth the time. Shoe horning a precision running chassis and all the goodies inside that body is some achievement. @WRENNEIRE Thanks for posting those photos, the decorated samples look stunning. Delivery grey/yellow + B&T for me + ST and IE broken points logo with tippex. Yummie Easter will be very happy and expensive this year. PS: The only speaker I could fit inside my 121 bonnets was a sugar cube.

Another few months won't make much of a difference, and probably useful anyway to space it away from the A class delivery and from Christmas too. Had both locos arrived in December as originally announced we'd all be broke and nothing else might sell for a year. The Irish market well is only so deep. It will be worth waiting for.
