  1. Ordered a pair These look good, very good. A little out of my 1960s era but too good not to collect some samples, and even run them. I have some orange baby GMs so won't indignity them by coupling up behind black and tan B141
  2. Only ESSO's we have Love the trucks above.
  3. I “feel” I like in time to eventually weather all my rolling stock. 75% done so far. Some pristine new stock can have an unprototypical plastic Duplo or fisher price look about it until it’s weathered. I “feel” I like gentle weathering which is quick and easy to do, and low risk too. Just enough to take the shine off stock and give it that slight used and aged look. Not a fan of filth nearing the point of scrapage, but that’s just a personal opinion.

    MRSI

That Web site still has 2018 stuff on home page.Perhaps needs updating.
  5. Enjoy. Post a video of it running
  6. Stunning result Tony. In the end it all turned out so well. Your perseverance paid off in the end. Love the colour tones and balanced blending of scenics. The goods yard looks amazing. Love the era too.
  7. Super as ever at Tara Junction. Like that your Super Train mk3 coaches are the correct shade of orange/tan. Never tire of looking at photos of Tara Junction and the fab story telling of all its activity.
  8. The mince pies will get me there If they haven't all been eaten by 12:00pm, and especially if they are heated.
  9. Just as a matter of interest what are 'Hornby Shorties'? Also aside from being shorter than scale length is there anything else that is materially different about them (eg no of windows, etc)? Where can 'Hornby Shorties be got (ie Hornby R-Number, or range name)? Thanks. Am considering respraying some but wondering if shorter coaches might look better in a longer rake of coaches, especially rounding curves without massive overhang on curves and crossing points, etc. Just a thought.
  10. Thanks @NIRCLASS80 very informative post. Great photos of the 121 samples. They will be worth the wait.

    121 per-order

Hopefully the 121s will ship before brexit actually happens and before the end of January. I assume A classes should not be affected by brexit, tariffs and vat differences because IRM is an Irish company and orders were placed with it not a UK entity. Looks like a lot of locos are going to hit the market in January including the Deltic's one of which I've ordered too. Delighted to hear about the class 37. This is really putting it up to both Bachmann and Hornby. Really looking forward to the 121 also. Post-Christmas blues will be brightened up by the sound of running locos.
  12. Agree, model trains are meant to be run and driven. Play time. Now I wouldn't mind a static display of a 1 gauge 141 sitting in a class case beside me in the sitting room to gaze at during TV adverts. But storing locos away in boxes in cupboards seems such a waste (of which I have sinned in the past myself)

    Project 42 Update

Sorry Fran don’t understand your bizarre reply. Especially after our recent chat at show. You posted they are on way and due December so I simply requested to let us know when they’ve arrived. There was no sarcasm implied nor intended. You seem to pick on me and read things into some of my posts that aren’t there. Looking forward to these and hearing when they’ve arrived in IRM towers.

    Project 42 Update

Sold out. Wow that's interesting. Let us know when they have actually arrived at your Dublin depot.
  17. Yes I have fond memories travelling behind BR blue class 37s and class 47s in the 70s to London from Wales.
  18. Looks good. That will be amazing when its finished if it looks like your Diesel Depot layout. Now all he will need is some 0 Gauge 141 or 121 locos like the super MRSI layout at SDMRC. It just won't look quite the same with miners strike BR blue livery class 37 and class 47s. Class 20 and class 25s nice and short ideal for a shunting layout. Droppers! Me I believed the two wire marketing hype when DCC was launched and so only have two wires going to our layout, no droppers at all, much to the amazement of the prophets of DCC doom. 400m of track and it works fine.
  19. Its over 20 years since I travelled to Londonderry by train. Traveling back to Dublin on the Enterprise but it broke down at Portadown on the Friday of Drumcree. Relief as I spoke in German or English mit ze german akzent vile I vas vaiting in ze paked staßion fur ze next replacement train tu Dubhlin, pretendung tu be a tourist rather than a southern fenian. Incredibly scenic on the North coast from Belfast to Londonderry.
  20. Thanks @StevieB for bumping that thread back into consciousness. Travelled on those AEC sets to Galway as a child and often from Bray to Lansdowne Road. Fond memories brought back.
  21. Oh yummy wow. Fabulous concept and execution. Enjoy
  22. Does anybody know what was the thinking behind Galway trains having their own livery? Was it a possible trial for the whole network. It was the only coach livery that matched the strange 201 orange/yellow/black livery back then, but at least they matched up. The 201s hauling tippex livery IR/IE never really looked right from a standardised branding point of view.
  23. Nice pic but are those not all mk2s?
  24. Thanks. I didn't make it in Yesterday to have a look at one, at that price I may kit bash a Bachmann BCK into shape instead. Thanks for the info anyway.
