  1. No a brand new book and ordered a copy yesterday myself from Michael.
  2. Seen posts on Facebook suggesting it is a reprint of the 2008 book. Obviously they are wrong and can trust John to be correct as always. Will order a copy today.
  3. Plenty of good information on the design of CDR buildings in the County Donegal Railway Companion in particular. Can get a copy of that rare map from about 1890 if you wish and it is in colour as well.
  4. There is a map from this period showing thrvpropsed lines in the North West on display in the Donegal Railway Heritage Centre.
  5. No other is the new loco for the Tralee and Dingle Railway purchased by the local council!
  6. The Donegal Railway Heritage Centre has published 3 new books on the CDR since 2017. The Heritage Centre has its main focus on Drumboe in the early part of 2021. Gathering a lot of material on the Swilly at the moment myself for another project in addition to Strabane. Narrow Gauge Steam 2 by Kelsey publishing due out in a few days has 3 Irish NG articles in total.
  7. Agree with David and many thanks and Happy Xmas 2 Jim

  9. Thanks that photo just one of many rare photos that I have recently claimed for my NG collection for lines in the North and Donegal.

  13. Some unusual and unpublished Donegal photos and another gem from the Swilly. Thanks again Jim
  14. Can I also thank Ciaran for his fantastic work and know from personal experience from writing articles and researching unidentified photos etc just how much time and patience this all requires. Will enjoy going through the latest archive in detail over the next few days.
  15. Mods please delete this post only as it is repeated by mistake? The other identical post with replies is fine. Thanks
  16. Keep them coming and nice to see some more Donegal! Thanks
  17. Top photo is of the passenger station being demolished in September 1970 looking towards the City Centre. Bottom photo is of the goods station. Nothing remains except the water tower at the closed and defunct Foyle Valley Railway Museum.
  18. The photo wechavecfrom Derry Journal from September 1970 shows the station remains being demolished. Here is the only photo I have which is not good enough for the website.
  19. Thanks we have a photo from the Derry Journal from September 1970 showing the site being cleared. We are are not able to use that photo as it is poor quality so have ordered a new print from the Derry Journal but delayed by Covid!
  20. Interesting as we have photos of Foyle Road being demolished in September 1970 from the Derry Journal. This was to.make room for the new road scheme that became the Foyle Embabkmemt dual csrriageway.
  21. Enjoy the journey and history of this line from the update today on the disused stations website. As a co-author if this work, all feedback is most welcome and a special thanks to Ernie for all his help.
  22. Enjoy the journey and history of this line from the update today on the disused stations website. As a co-author if this work, all feedback is most welcome and a special thanks to Ernie for all his help.
  23. Have the same problem as an Historian trying to identify and date photos correctly. Acquired a CDR photo last week labelled Ballyshannon but actually an unusual angle of Stranorlar
  24. That tends to happen a lot when you see similar photos on the same date/place by some photographers who have travelled together. For example for an August 1959 weekend on the CDR 3 of the 4 photographers who travelled together have since published their own books/articles of the same weekend.
  25. Some NIR Blue in a photo feature on the NIR GMs in current issue of Rail Express
