    You can buy a 2and hand copy of that magazine. Try Vintage Carriages Trust for reliable service but do not try Magazine Exchange from personal experience.

    Good photo around 1945 as the station was rationalised and most buildings such as signal cabin removed after 1945/6.

    Probably coaches 350 and 353 as they were the spare coaches and ended up in Ballycastle after closure. The other 3 coaches were sold in 1952 to the CDR as they were in Ballymoney after closure. Could the photo be just after closure?

    Picture of 41 in Saga by Rail Ireland showing it at Ballymoney in March 1950 and Boyd states it was freshly painted. So late 1940s sounds correct JHB.

    Remember reading in an article that when the Ballycastle line closed the 3 regular coaches ended up in Ballymoney This meant when the CDR bought them at auction they were easily transferred to Vixtoria Road. However the other 2 ex B&L coaches ended up in Ballycastle. The UTA wanted more money to.move them to Ballymoney so the price was higher than their scrap value. Result the CDR only bought 3 coaches not 5!

    There is a very good article on the Jeeps with good photos from about 1950 and comparisons with the Fowler tanks in Railway Bylines May 2005.

    There are least two 3 Foot gauge steam locos restored and available to my knowledge.

    Thanks have that book and tracked down and got a copy of the magazine article on the Turf Burner I was looking for. Has some very good photos and details of CC1.

    Yes but the window stickers for Didcot and Oxford at Connolly did confuse a few normals!

    Article is in March 1992 issue with great colour photos and a picture of CC1 beside 800 at Inchicore.

    Remember travelling on that train the ex BR WR coach even had its window destination stickers still!

    You should try and track down that book on the CBST. Published in 2009 by South Dublin Libraries by Aidan Cruise with many rare photos in its 96 pages.

    The current issue of Railway Bylines had a photo feature on Limerick Junction in the 1950s. There is a picture of 432 on the scrap line there in 1957.

    Diagrams of the Jeep are in Scott's book and there was an article on their design in an issue of Five Foot Three.

    Thanks this was in a magazine with excellent colour photos of CC1 on trial which has got lost in the mists of time.

    Great photo. Pity one of these Crewe built locos was not preserved.
