    There is a person in this group who bought a lot of the Casserley collection recently. Possible that Casserley visited the branch itself as it closed to passengers in the same year.

    Casserley took photos of this line in 1930 before it closed to passengers with coach 318 in the train.

    Photos taken in Ballycastle in 1950 show that 41 and 44 have different size UT crests and no NCC markings. The IRRS have a photo of 42 on the Larne NG line in March 1950 in very neat a d clean NCC livery with no UT markings! Pattern there is no pattern.

    Photo was by NW Sprinks taken in May 1953 of loco 43 at Ballymoney. This appeared in Steam Days May 2014 and shows clearly the UT crest applied on top of the middle C! There are photos of same loco in July 1954 in NG in Colour book but angle is less clear There is a good photo of 43 in July 1949 in smart NCC livery in latest version of Ballycastle Railway. Same book has clear photos of 41 and 44 in UT livery in 1950 with no NCC markings at all.

    According to Locos of NCC book it was 81. Found a photo today taken in 1953 of one of the NG tanks at Ballymoney with the UT Crest placed over the NCC letters! Looking for something else of course.

    90 was in Brunswick Green like BR? Towards the end of WW2 NCC 81 was sent to Dundalk for overhaul and returned in fully lined LMS Maroon!

    There is a picture in Locos of the NCC book taken about the same time of 4 stating that it had the NCC letters painted over as well.

    There are some good photos of DBST wagons in that book on the DBST published locally in 2009.

    Published in 2009 with 96 pages of good photos and interesting detail about the DBST. Will help with your research for sure.

    Good colour photo of 27 on back of IRRS Journal 177 Says it is 1969 but think it is probably 1967?

    MM have you come across the book on the DBST by Aidan Curtis? It has lots of photos and some great stories about this long lost railway/tramway.

    Colour photos of 26 in 1964 show no UTA markings except number on the bunker But am sure 27 had acquired an UTA coat of arms by the 1960s?

    There are good colour photos of Lough Melvin both taken in 1964. One is at Adelaide and the other at York Road with no UTA Crest See Steam Age in Colour and Volume 11 The Steaming Sixties.

    Also see page 114 of Irish Railways in Colour Volume 2 Have seen colour photos of the Swilly in back issues of Backytack magazine. You need get a copy of the revised edition of the classic Patterson book as well. The Visitors guide to the LLSR has a great colour photo on the front cover.

    50 and its sister engine had interesting histories and 50 was not withdrawn until 1946. Built by Beyer Peacock as 2-4-0 compounds in 1895 and altered in 1897 to 4-4-0s to improve stability etc. In 1926 50 was rebuilt as a simple with a very LNWR like appearance with its 7 foot driving wheels.

    Volume 9 has many photos and full details of all MGWR lines and signal cabins. Got mine from.our IRRS friends at a meeting in London. Ask Leslie of this parish?

    You need to track down a book called Signal Box Register Volume 9 Ireland and IOM for full details. The MGWR relied on English signalling companies up to 1920/1. The MGWR signal cabins suffered a lot of damage in this period especially during the Civil War.

    IRRS Journal 55 may say MGWR wagon stock on the front cover. However it was the first of a 2 part feature on MGWR carriages So issue 51 February 1970 is what you need.
